There was certainly a noticeable amount of hesitation in the slow footsteps of the slender female as she walked for the first time over the dry earth that formed the borders of the Fire packlands. But at the same time, there was hope too. Two years it had been...two long years, and now, finally, though the aging wolf was no longer in her prime, it was time to start a new life. Of course, the scenery so far hadn't been welcoming...the mountain stretched into the sky, casting an ominous shadow when the sun passed behind it, towering over the borders like a threat of some sort. And the land itself that she passed over now seemed dead. Little grew here, it seemed, and the few blackened trees only served to emphasise the potential danger of living beside a volcano. Hopefully, the rest of the lands would prove more welcoming, else where were the wolves of this pack to hunt? Putting aside her doubts, she stopped walking and raised her greying muzzles to the skies in a howl, in the hope that it would be answered by the wolves who resided here. Assuming there were any, she realised with a slight jolt. She hadn't seen another wolf and hadn't heard one either. Furthermore, the unfamiliar scents of the land beneath her feet didn't seem to include any of a lupine nature. Well, time would tell, she thought wearily, and sat down in the dust to wait.
