High above a black form flapped its wings. When closer, the form took on brown shades, and turned into a magnificent figure of a bird. Migisi flapped his large wings and tilted forward, gliding slowly towards the ground. The light wind ruffled his feathers, causing a wave-like ripple through them. He narrowed his eyes and he tilted forward again and went into a dive. A few hundred feet from the ground he tilted upward again, gliding over the ground. He wings gave a slight flap and he slowly descended toward the ground. He extended his talons and landed on the soft grass underneath. He folded his wings, clipping his beak. Wobbling he walked towards falcon lake, which was only a few yards away. Once there he dipped his head down and took a few refreshing gulps of the clear water. He looked up again, his wings fidgeting. He opened his beak and cawed. The screech carried over the lake, across the forest, and onward. It called any birds in the area to reveal themselves. He breathed slowly, listening for the replying noise of another. Hearing none he swiveled his head and turned he body to look around. He blinked, watching, hearing, and waiting.

A reply screech echoed over the trees. The silent wings of a Tyto Alba, Barn Owl, flapped noiselessly. Her plumage was a beautiful sight. White underbelly, with golden brown back and wing feathers with spots of darker browns and yellows. But what made her stand out was her heart-shaped face feathers, hiding her sensitive ears. Landing near the hawk, Ewin, bowed her head slightly. Opening her beak, but clanking it shut, then opening it she spoke to the leader.
Good Day, I'm FireWing, or Ewin. You are?

Migisi eyed the owl. He turned his whole body towards her, his tail feathers twitching a few times. His large eyes blinked before replying, "Migisi, leader of the Gresch Flock, ally to the Dezon Flock. I'm very pleased to meet you, FireWing. May I add that is a very interesting name." He said in a deep voice, ringing with a majestic tone that always seemed to pulsate from him. Though he was a normal bird the way he carried his head hid something he did not know he had. His talons played with the moist soil underneath while he waited the owl to reply. He hadn't seen very many owls in his life, and they always interested him on how easily they could maneuver in the night. That was something, though with his excellent eyesight, he could not do easily. That was probably why he was never sent out to hunt during the dark hours in his nest.
Migisi shifted his weight from one leg to the other, his impatience showing. He blinked again, looking at the sky. He had just been up there, but now he was here. He lowered his head to rest his eyes upon the owl again, still waiting her response.

Ruffling her feathers and spreading her wings, Ewin let herself grow larger by fluffing herself up. Lowering her wings to her side, she churred slightly as was the laughing manner of owls. Her extra sensitive Barn Owl ears picked up a vole in its den, sleeping. A juicy snake for later. Clanking open and closing in a thinking manner, she sighed out a reply, "Well, speak for yourself, Migisi. And the names Ewin, not FireWing, thats my full name. Would you like to be called FireWing for all your days? I think not sir." Thrusting herself into the air, she flew to a small stone closer to her bird cousin. He may not be a night hunter, or a quiet flyer, but he was an ally, which was always good. Folding out her wings, she showed her underbelly, which was a radiant white.

Migisi, a bit surprised by her reply retorted, "I'm sorry if I offended you." He said quickly, apologizing in his own way. He watched her fly up to the rock, noting the way her wings flapped and her feathers moved. It was an odd habit of his sometimes, for he often glanced at his own wings, interested by his own natural ability to fly while other animals could not. He blinked, moving his eyes to the sky. "May I ask," He started, moving his head back towards earth, "What flock you belong to, if any. If you mentioned it before, I have forgotten." His curiosity grew, but he was like this of all birds. His chick-like personality was showing again. Most of the time he was serious, but on occasions he was easy-going, as of now.
OOC: Two things; sorry it's so short (I'm busy at the moment) and do you read 'Guardians of Ga'Hoole?'

You have a reason to have forgotten since I have not told you. I am Leader of the Dezon Flock. Noting at him watch her flight, she simply pushed away any feelings about his rudeness, thinking it a habit or something else, on which she cared not to think. Rolling her eyes, she yawned, covering it up with her starboard wing. Lowering it, she stared at the bird of prey next to her. Moving her eyes toward a better spot. Also, you should be aware that staring is both rude and unpleasant for both the starer and the stared at. And sarcasim is not invisible to my ears. I wouldn't do it. So any way. How did you get to this place? Gliding to the ground, she stretched her wings, waiting for a reply. Swinging her ears back and forth, she heard the vole, scraping her den, as she looked for roots. And a few birds pecked at bugs. The vole sparked Ewin's hunger, since she hadn't hunted since the night before.
OOC: Yeah...I love those books. I'm trying to find The Burning since I just finished the The Shattering

"Wandering, I suppose. I had just left the nest when I came here. Lived here ever since. Boring, not much of a story." He said, looking at the ground. Well, they were of allied flocks, and both leaders of them as well. His tail flicked uneasily then settling, folding so it was smaller. He blinked, wondering if this owl could find any other things wrong with him. "Oh well," He murmured in his mind. "I guess I could fix myself." He added for a bit of humor.
OOC: Again, I just got home from my short trip, and I'm unpacking that's why it's short. And yeah, I think I've read all of them that are out...I can't wait 'till the next one.

Ewin clicked her tongue in thought. Looking at Migisi, she sighed in a 'sorry' sort of way.
Please, be not affended if I said anything, but of late, suitors have been bothering me so much that many males annoy me. They, the suitors, were always like 'what? no, your staying in the hollow and caring for our chicks while your hubby is hunting' which is always code for 'just sit there and don't leave, cus I am going out to make googly eyes at another owl!' Annoying little things, they frick me off!
Putting her wing to her beak she appoligized for her words. 'Frick' is a bad word to any creature, but especially an owl. Shaking her feathers a bit, Ewin yawned, since she should have been going to her hollow.
((sorry...but i like Fricked and Frick))

Migisi shifted to make himself a bit more comfortable as she spoke, like tucking his wings closer to his fluffy body feathers. "I guess I could understand that." He replied uncertainly. In truth, he couldn't. But oh well. "So, I guess you've been traveling much if you've never found a place to suite your taste?" Wanting to keep the conversation going, he started coming up with questions that were either stupid or had nothing to do with what they were talking about. His brown flicked up to the sky again, ignoring the constant howl, chirps, and squeaks that came from the area around. He clicked his beak, something he did when he was bored. He wasn't exactly bored, not yet. And he didn't want it to seem like he was bored in the presence of another bird that he didn't know much about yet.
Trying to keep himself as polite as possible, he held his head upright and wings tucked at his side. His talons now held themselves lightly on the dirt, not digging in and getting a muddy brown color about them. His brown eyes flicked back to Ewin. "Enough daydreaming!" Yelled a thought in his mind. It was something he was prone to do, when there was no pressure on him, daydream. Just look up at the sky, and watch.

Shrugging slightly, Ewin nodded then nearly screeched at the thought of one suitor. Yes well...you just have to find a female you love with your deepest heart. I have to reject many! I don't like the thought of hurting another like that. I really don't like to hurt thier pride at all. It hurts me and them. Ewin swivled her head to look at water and saw a glitter of fish scales on the surface, shimmering like a diamond or mother of pearl.

Migisi followed her gaze towards the water, seeing what looked like a fish. But, remembering to reply, he pulled his attention away from it and back to Ewin. "Well...I suppose...It shouldn't hurt their pride. If they are that immature, I don't know if they should have a female to call their mate. They should be mature enough to handle it maturely, to say 'Okay' and try again somewhere else and not let it affect them that much, or at least think harder before walking straight up to someone." Though it sounded like he knew what he was saying, he didn't. For him, it was just a jumble of words and thoughts blurted out in sentences. Perfect, always like this, making a fool of himself and he was supposed to be a respected leader. Oh well, he would be more careful of his words next time.
He blinked waiting for her to say something like, "What in the world did you just say?" or "What do you mean 'think harder?'" He sighed, and ruffled his tail feathers. It was a sign, for him, the he was slightly uncomfortable. Not in a physical kind of way, but in his mind. That, he pushed away, though. He couldn't act like this. He had to uphold his honor in a small sort of way. Especially in the presence of the leader of a flock that was an ally to his.

A dark brown blur, on the edge of black, darted towards the cool waters below, barely slowing as talons extended, impaling a large trout on contact. The bird rose, rippling her feathers as she smiled maliciously. How she managed to stay aloft was a complete mystery, as her catch was larger than she herself. Still, she swung her body to a nearby perch, settling before tearing into the meat. Others were nearby; why, she'd yet to figure out. Still, it's not like they could do anything to /her/. The idea itself was laughable. Sending out a shrill call, she slowly turned her head, fish flesh dangling from her beak as she eyed the other birds nearby.

Migisi looked over at Avverae. Yet another bird he hadn't met. What were they suddenly all doing here? Then again, it was only two for now. Not much to get worked up about. Then something caught him by surprise. The scent of Temhota. Did it have something to do with this bird? He looked away and up at the skies. Crystal clear, not a bird in the sky. Yes. This bird was part of the Temhota Flock. What rank? Yet to be learned. The only thing he knew was that the Gresch and the Temhota Flock's were on opposite sides of ideas. For now he pretended to ignore the bird, but his 'second' pair of eyes were still on her.
OOC: Again, I'm sorry it's short. It's just that I can't type much about looking at someone.

She bit into some of the fish, relishing the blood as it oozed into her beak. Blood from a fish meant nothing, was nothing, showed no power nor accomplishment. Yet as always it was strangely satisfactory. Then with a shrill shriek, leaving her prize behind, the falcon swooped down to the other birds. "You retch," she accused as soon as she was in distance, eyes sparkling with malice and mischief. A swoop down and she plucked a single feather from the bird with her beak, ripping it with her talons as she alighted on a branch nearby. "Your Gretch stench is so vile I've lost my appetite. You could try to be considerate and let me eat my lunch."
Gretch. Disgusting! Their views were ridiculous, their wits missing, and their strength not even an amusing opponent to her speed. Even if it was, mind you, she'd never admit it, not until she was dead. And, dead, it's hard to admit anything. "What, pray tell, are a couple idiots- oops! I meant 'birds-of-prey,'" she mocked with a snort. Hardly! They didn't 'prey' on anything useful! "not that there's much of a difference!- doing in a place like this? Last I checked, it certainly wasn't /your/ territory.
It wasn't her territory either, but that would have to change soon...
