Using the following code create a thread which has as title the full name of your character:
| CODE | Name: Your character's full name.
Age: Your character must be 18 or older.
Description: Describe your character and any phsyical attributes.
History: Tell us a little about your character, their first crush, their first dabbling in magic or why they steadfastly refuse to dip a toe in those waters, their first time in a place of power or the first time they were certain they were in the presence of a ghost ... (Try to stick with the present generation, there's a reason the old people live in Sul-on-the-Sea.) Please do not make references to anything outside of Mathonwy, such things are faded legends and myths of the pre-Shrivening world.
Job: What kind of job do you foresee for your character? Not sure - look at careers in the Civil Law section. Your character must ALREADY be in employment.
Personality: Describe what kind of personality your character has, their likes and dislikes, fears and dreams and their drives.
Dead People: Seriously ... the dead that lie within your character's past. Remember that in Bell, Book & Candle the dead are still among us. List at least three dead people your character knew and how they died and how long ago.
Scene:Write a short scene of your character alone somewhere thinking about someone they miss (for whatever reason, death, hate, misunderstanding, jealous spouse etc). |
Example:
Name: Conall Scawens
Age: 39
Description: Strong features, a prominant nose and dark brown hair that some might consider black. His eyes are a cool mint green, his most definitive feature for often what people recall first and foremost are the eyes of Lord Scawens ... their beautiful colour, but also their piercing gaze.
History: Conall was born into arguably the most powerful family in Mathonwy and while it was a heritage that came with many privileges, it also came with many burdens. There's not a soul in Mathonwy who doesn't speculate about the eldritch connections that almost certainly are part of the very fabric of this noble family. Or who speculate about Conall's ancestor, who was part of the great Shrivening and so closely investigated by the Coven Inquisition.
He learned early not to trust, which is a sad thing for a child and had no true friends ... yet was at the heart of a circle of immediate peers who respected, feared, loved, hated and desired young Conall and his heritage and all that would one day pass to him. Power was never something that the Scawens believed would fall into their hands willingly, it was abetted by their heritage and station in life, in Mathonwy, but nothing was ever certain. Thus, young Conall was never one to rest when he could be pursuing those things the Scawens household admired most ... knowledge and skill and of course, power. Still, as much as the Scawens have those who speak vehemently against them, few of this lineage have wielded power for powers sake and the agenda of the Scawens has mostly seemed to accord with the desire of the citizenry of Mathonwy.
Conall's first encounter with the dead came early in life, his home - Rederheia Manor - is notable for being quite the ethereal magnet and the Scawens dead seem as intend on visiting their mortal home as their living kin are on maintaining it and as deep into the practicing of the craft as Conall already was as a youth, he was quick to sense them in a more intimate way than just a chill in the air or a thump at the door. His first crush in fact was among the dead, a young and beautiful woman who came to him in the quiet of night and told him tales of glass towers and deep black wells; but her seduction came to nothing and not even her rich grey eyes or musical voice could tempt Conall from making his mark in Mathonwy and eventually the temptress stopped visiting.
Few know that every heir to the title of Lord Scawens is so tempted or that the beautiful woman who visits each of them is powerful enough to grant even the more exotic requests and if one could strike some bargain off her ... power would be assured. Of course ... to tempt her out one would need her name or one she would answer to and more still to trade in pact or deal with her.
Job: Tribute, Noble Elect
Personality: Charming is synonymous with Lord Scawens, compelling and convincing are other attributes. His power is without question, his authority brought to bear only when all else fails. Conall is a skilled politician and it seems to be at heart the very essence of the man. He has strong passions, but a stronger command of himself and none have seen visible trace of his anger ... some have been said to have tasted it though.
Dead People: His father, Gwyther Scawens and of course every scion of the noble house to which he is heir; for they live on in a fashion in the Hall of Portraits and in the history books that write of the infamous breed.
Scene: He missed her not for her body or her beauty, he lacked for neither while she was away but rather the absence that haunted him was the companionship of her mind. It was as if they had been carved from the same weave and separated long before their spirits had become enfleshed. Orianna was his equal in every measure and though their marriage was not a passionate one, it was still strong and together they were Scawens and Conall always felt that united they were unconquerable. He smiled, recalling how unhappy they'd both been at the thought of their impending nuptials ... their union decided long before either were old enough to know how two could twine together. Orianna Twell had been beautiful, yet knowing their fate to be bound together they'd kept far apart in youth and adolescence. Almost they'd grown to hate one another. Then ... they'd been united and it hadn't happened overnight ... but now, neither - Conall was certain - would wish it another way.
He could remember the night he'd stopped dreaming of the eldrich dead who'd been the lover of his adolescence, the night he and Orianna had discovered within each other an equal. It amused him that it had been on opposite sides of Mathonwy and a meeting in spirit not in flesh. He contemplated visiting her thus now. (Hurry home, Orianna ... it isn't the same without you.)
