Name: Deirdre Alexander
Age: 25
Description: Deirdre is a slender girl standing no more then 5'2" in stocking feet. She has blonde hair and brown eyes.
History: Deirdre was born to Isobel Alexander on Samhainn Eve. The name of her father has never been told to Deirdre. The only thing the young girl does know is that he is dead, having died before she was born.
Deirdre's family has not had a happy past. Her great-grandfather, Ian, was imprisioned by the Coven Inquisition for practing forbidden magics and making dark compacts with the Eldritch. Her family was stripped of their estates, wealth and titles, both her great-grandmother, Aileen, and grandmother, Fia , were left with nothing, stigmatized for the sin of being so close to dark magic.
People always talk about the Alexander girls, they say there's a curse on them and always has been. It's even bound together in black and white, in a little volume printed five decades ago called
The Disappearing Girls. The story boils down to the mysterious - and some say indisputable fact - that every third consecutively born Alexander girl disappears at some time during her second half of her twenty years.
Deirdre grew up with the whispers and the stares of adults who watched her with curious or frightened eyes and her mother's excessive fears and strict command that little Deirdre should never for a moment be left alone ... but it wasn't until late in her teens that a friend brought her an aged copy of The
Disappearing Girls by an author who called himself
Goldenlocke that she finally began to realise that she really might be a little different from other boys and girls.
So the curse is a mystery, no one knows where or how it began and if it is really true ... everyone only knows that certain Alexander girls have disappeared some time after they turned 25 ... and everyone in Deirdre's family seemed to believe that she would become another of the disappearing Alexander girls.
Job: Deirdre has attempted to break the cycle of dark magics by studying the healing arts. something she has always wanted to do. She is the owner of
Alexander's Apothecary.Personality: Deirdre, dispite the curse hanging above her, enjoys helping those around her. She can be very friendly. She is defiant of the curse that sits on her head, determined that one day she will find a way to break it.
Her voice is quiet and she is slow to anger. She loves to sing and often does so when she is working, though on rare occosians she has been known to sing in public.
She is constanty trying to live down the family's dark past, though the temptation to do dark magic is strong within her and she seems to be constantly ar war inside.
Dead People: - Ian Alexander: Her Great-great grandfather.
- Aileen Alexander: Her Great-grandmother.
- Fia Alexander: Her Grandmother.
- Connor Alexander: Her Grandfather.
- Isobel Alexander: Her Mother.
- (Name Unknown): Her Father.
Scene: Deirdre sighs as she sits at the edge of the household garden. Lately her thoughts had been dwelling on her father. She did not know who he was. Her mother, Isobel, had refused to tell her anytime she asked, including the night she took her last breath.
What little she did know was that her father had been very wealthy and he left her a beautiful home to live in complete with gardens. She has also had her dream come true in the fact that she inherited the family's apothecary shop. She spends a great deal of time there. But there is still fear gilding her happiness. This was the beginning of her twenty-fith year. Those that had suffered the fate of the curse did so sometime during this year - or after - of their lives. Would she be the next one? She prayed and hoped nightly that fate would stay its hand.
She closes her eyes to keep away the tears that she did not want to shed. (
Father, I wish I knew who you were. I feel incomplete because I lack that knowledge. If there were a way for you to let me know who you are ... I would ask it of you.)
Silent tears fall from her eyes as the pain washes over her, reaching all the way to her soul. (
If only I could bring you back and we could speak!)
