Name: Bronwyn Eileen Snow
Age: 22
Description: Bronwyn is a name that means fair, and fair she is. Bronwyn is a pale figure with a shock of brilliant red, curly hair. It’s the only color her person bears without the aid of clothes and make up. Even her eyes are somewhat devoid of color, the blue green hue of them being very pale and somewhat changeable. The color changes from blue to green depending on her outfit. Her eyes bear a knowing, somber gaze. They give her an almost ethereal appearance, and that is aided by her delicate and somewhat pointed features. She stands at 5’6” in her stocking feet, and her frame is willowy; it bears gentle curves that are round enough to give her a hint of a feminine appearance.
History:.
Bronwyn’s family was never a traditional one. She was born to a troubled mother, and was raised by her grandmother. She had very few memories of the woman who gave birth to her, but what she did remember did not paint a very loving, motherly picture. Clodagh was never overly involved with her child. She spent most of Winnie’s childhood gazing longingly out of the front window and talking to someone who never seemed to be there. Whenever young Winnie tried to intrude into her mother’s secretive word, she was met with a harsh rebuke, and Clodagh took hours to recover. Eventually, Bronwyn stopped turning to her mother and sought attention from her sole caregiver, her grandmother, Caoimhe. When Bronwyn was seven, Clodagh disappeared. Her disappearance was never explained by Caoimhe, but she did notice a marked relief in her grandmother’s voice whenever her mother was mentioned.
A father figure was never a part of Bronwyn’s life, and this seemed on par for the course of her family. To look at the family history, it had been quite some time since a father figure bore any presence in the life of the Snow clan. In fact, the surname of the family was passed down from mother to daughter, as the birth of a son was a very rare occurrence in the Snow clan. Bronwyn sometimes did wonder about her father, but whenever she would broach the subject with her grandmother, she was met with a brief silence before she was handed a strange comment about how odd her red hair was. It never made much sense to Bronwyn, but then she did not know that she Snow women were blonde, and that her red hair was a trait she had gotten from her father. Her having red hair was an oddity in this family.
When Bronwyn was thirteen and on the edge of womanhood, she had her family’s magic explained to her. The Snow women have a long history of black compacts with one of the Eldritch. When a woman of the Snow line reaches maturity and falls in love, the Eldritch approaches her with offers of power beyond her dreams. However, this power comes with a cost. After the pair has consummated their relationship and a child has been conceived, a black compact is made to take the life of her lover. As if that were not enough, more is expected from the woman. When it comes time for her to give birth, it is done within the home, attended only by a midwife. She will bear twins, a girl and a boy. The boy child is taken the moment it is born and offered up as a tribute to the Eldritch, and forever securing her power. It is a choice that has driven many women in the line to madness. Clodagh was not the first of the Snow women to disappear. The family history is littered with unexplained disappearances and suicides.Bronwyn was never told the details, the name of the Eldritch or the nature of her offer aside from her Grandmother stating that it differs for every Snow; all she does know is that when she falls in love ... the blackest of Eldritch will come and tempt her. The family history horrified young Bronwyn and left her terrified of strong emotions.
The night that Bronwyn learned of the family history, she had her first encounter with the spirit world. Clodagh appeared to her, and with her was a man Bronwyn had never seen. It took Bronwyn a moment to recognize her mother, because this was the first time Bronwyn had ever seen her mother smile. Clodagh stood with her arm looped through the man’s, and she extended her hand towards Bronwyn, and then she disappeared. It was an experience Bronwyn kept to herself and one she reflected on often. The man had been her father. She wasn’t sure how she knew this, but it was an idea she could not shake. It left a very bad taste in her mouth and added to the doubts she carried about continuing the family line in the fashion it had carried on for so long. Now on her own, she is left wondering if Clodagh’s fate is also to be hers, and fears having to make this dark and awful choice herself. Will she be strong enough to resist? Or will she be driven mad, left with only grief and longing to keep her company?
Job: Bronwyn plays the violin for the orchestra, and sings and acts with the theater troupe in town. It is through these endeavors that Bronwyn experiences emotions; it is her sanity in her lonely life. The death of her grandmother left Bronwyn a large sum of money that allowed her to live her creative lifestyle. She wasn’t overly rich, but she was comfortable. Her grandmother was a talented business woman who saved every penny she ever earned, spending only when necessary.
Personality: Bronwyn is a quiet, secretive young woman. She does her best to keep herself from getting attached to anyone, and very rarely shows any emotion that does not belong to a character from the stage. If she had a choice, isolation would not be how she chose to live her life, but she knows it is necessary to protect herself and those around her.
Dead People: Bram Dougal, father – Bronwyn is only familiar with Bram’s apparition, and his death is a mystery to her, but she knows her mother had a hand in it. He died before she was born.
Clodagh Snow, mother- Clodagh died with Bronwyn was seven. The details of her death have never been brought to life, but Bronwyn highly suspects that her mother took her own life to rejoin her father.
Caiomhe Snow, grandmother- Caiomhe died of old age when Bronwyn was eighteen. She was the only death that Bronwyn truly mourned, as she was the only parent figure Bronwyn ever knew.
Scene: Bronwyn stood before the portrait of her mother with a frown on her face. The woman in the portrait was smiling; her eyes were bright and carefree. Had Bronwyn not seen her mother like this before, she never would have recognized her. In life, she had never known this woman. Only in death had she seen what her mother could have been.
She felt cheated. Why couldn’t her mother have been stronger? Why did she leave Bronwyn with no preparations for what lay in store for her? Wasn’t that what mothers were supposed to do? Bronwyn frowned and turned away from the portrait. She bit her thumbnail as she sifted through her thoughts. She was well past maturity now, but she had yet to fall in love. Keeping isolated from others made it impossible for her to ever fall in love with anyone, and it ate her up inside. She longed for a close relationship, but she was far too wary of emotions and what they could bring to her life. She saw no alternative but to live in solitude, and she hated every moment of it.
