Prologue The Lesser Summoning Ritual, despite its title should not be taken lightly as among the lesser magics ... summoning and invocating the Eldritch is never a matter undertaken lightly. As to the appointed hour and place, one should consult the grimoires and the names by which the Eldrich are known. Do not confuse these with their true names, for many are merely the names by which they dain to be called ... and as such, are merely superficial disguises which augment whatever aspect they wish to present of themselves. Do not be fooled ... the Eldritch are so much more than one might be led to believe and always, always consider that they have their motives as you do. The Lesser Summoning Ritual has served the wiccian community of Mathonwy well since pre Shrivening days and has continued to be the more popular among the white and grey practitioners, one rarely touches on the greater summoning rituals for almost all are devoted to the worst of the black.

Chapter 1
The Lesser Summoning Ritual of Yspaddaden Offerings of Mathonwy Offerings of Simulacrim The name, the place and the hour A white summoning candle A coloured candle of offering A bellPreparations may be begun within the practitioner's own Sanctum. Offerings of Mathonwy are of course as every practitioner knows a matter of whom one intends to offer them to. Grimoires will tell of what is favoured by the Eldritch one hopes to call. It is also the greater difference between the Lesser Summoning Ritual and the greater rituals, the offerings are here always flower, fruit and seed. Offerings of Simulacrim are best crafted by the practitioner's own hands, drawings on parchment, sculptures in wax; although some (a small few) have found equal success with images struck on coins. These too are learned from the Grimoires which will know the beasts, the birds and the symbols that most please the Eldritch you seek to call. The name, the place and the hour are found therein too; they vary greatly but know that by the place and by the hour, one will know what colour of magic the wicca or wicce practices. A white summoning candle - directly opposed to the blue of greater summoning rituals. A candle the colour of which is favoured by your Eldritch, inscribed with their symbols or their name. The items may be gathered together and laid upon your altar within your Sanctum. A single drop of the practitioner's own blood on every item will complete the preparation for the Lesser Summoning Ritual. All these must then be transported to the appropriate place at the appropriate hour and the ritual itself is thus prepared. Set out the offerings in a pleasing fashion upon a small altar of twigs or bundle the herbs of the offering into this form and set within the candles. Light both and ring then your bell but once and do not let it sound again - even a small whisper of it might turn all your effort to nought. Call out the name of the Eldritch and summon them to come to you, to hear your voice, to listen to your words. What is said is between you and the Eldritch but fair words are pleasing to their ears and white, grey or black will come to those more quickly that have the silver tongue. Now wait and if you are heard and your offerings pleasing ... the Eldritch will come and then begins another ritual; a dance it is called between mortal and immortal.

Chapter 2
Aine ( pronounced onya or enya) Her boons and her domain is said to be love, growth, and she is also associated with light and the sun. In her Maiden aspect, she is the muse of poetry who bestows that gift to those she loves, or madness to those she rejects. In her Mother aspect, she is associated with lakes and wells with great powers of healing. In her Crone aspect, she is the dark Goddess with the ability to appear to mortal men as a woman of great beauty. She can bind her subjects in a fatal attraction, with death as the likely outcome. In all her aspects she is not to be offended. She can seek revenge, and with ultimate patience. Offerings of meadowsweet and the fruits of the harvest, simulacrim of cattle, fruits and fruit birthing flowers. Her time is under the moon and the fuller it grows the greater her reach into this world. As one of the grey, success is greater when the skies are aligned to this purpose. Loop Stone, Crooked Rock, Lady of Witanced, Yth Waters ... any grey aligned place in Mathonwy.

Chapter 3
Arianrhod (pronounced ari-an-rod) The "Silver Wheel" is a potent grey Eldritch, her boons are childbirth, fate, reincarnation, beauty and fertility; she is honored at the Full Moon. Arianrhod is said to be able to shapeshift into a large Owl, and through the great Owl-eyes, sees even into the darkness of the human subconscious and soul. The Owl symbolizes death and renewal, wisdom, moon magic, and initiations. She is said to move with strength and purpose through the night, her wings of comfort and healing spread to give solace to those who seek her. Under the full moon is she best summoned. Offerings of silver coins, wheat, owls, candles green and white. As one of the grey, success is greater when the skies are aligned to this purpose. Loop Stone, Crooked Rock, Lady of Witanced, Yth Waters ... any grey aligned place in Mathonwy.

Chapter 4
Arawn ( pronounced AHR-aun) The Lord of Annwn is considered Grey Eldritch by most and his boons are in the realms of death and of justice. Arawn rides with his white, red-eared hounds (the Cwn Annwn or Hounds of Annwn) through the skies in autumn, winter, and early spring. His element is earth and his colours are black and red. His power waxes greatest at and around Samhainn. Offerings of simulacrum of hounds and pigs. Earth-smelling plants, such as patchouly and vetivert; mosses and lichens; nuts; dry and stiff plants; heavy, low-growing plants; generally roots. As one of the grey, success is greater when the skies are aligned to this purpose. Loop Stone, Crooked Rock, Lady of Witanced, Yth Waters ... any grey aligned place in Mathonwy.
