Our Bible Study will be using the book, "Heaven is a Place on Earth" by Michael Wittmer (ISBN 0-310-25307-1), available at Chapters for $25.99 or $18.23 online from Amazon.com.
The introductory chaper can be found online at http://www.zondervan.com/media/pdfs/0310253071.pdf, which will be used this week. Discussion Questions: What is your ultimate belief system? See page 26. What lasts forever? Consider things that, like our bodies, may temporarily go out of existence but will reappear on the new earth. Read Isaiah 60; 65:17-25; 1 Cor. 15; 2 Peter 3:3-13; Rev. 21 and 22. Describe an experience that has challenged your worldview. How deeply did it penetrate: halfway in, or all the way to your ultimate beliefs? Explain how your worldview changed to accommodate this new experience. Were only minor adjustments necessary, or a major upheaval? What should we think when a member of another religion claims that God has miraculously answered her prayer? Would you conclude that she is worshipping the true God, or is there another plausible explanation? What are the implications of a worldview formation for Christian evangelism? Does it mean inviting unbelievers to add Jesus to their worldview, or is more required? In what ways might evangelism be considered an inherently violent activity? See you on Tuesday! Ben |
