Yes, I realize that in reading half the passage it suggested the possibility of a potentially inaccurate response, but the point of this study (in my eyes) is to discuss different possibilities. Going off on tangents can take discussion somewhere else completely, which can be beneficial and good. Debatable opinions can be good (as long as they are controlled). This is what I want to encourage, the honest sharing of opinions.
Completing the passage in a second part puts the first part in its full context so that we can come to the conclusion and say, yes, God is the king and He has forgiven us of an impossibly large debt. That being said, we are supposed to aspire to be like God, and should also forgive others of their debts to us, even if they are also impossibly large. So in some situations, might we be like the king? At this stage, I don't completely feel it necessary to get to "the right answer" immediately. We probably know the right answer anyway, but the discussion is what makes it interesting. Those are my thoughts. Anyone else? Ben |

While I did enjoy and will continue to come out to Bible Study's, I do need to make an observation in the manner in which the passage was read. A cardinal rule in Hermenutical study (understanding what you read), which is what we are doing at these get togethers, is to read the passage [COLOR=red]IN IT'S ENTIRITY. [COLOR=red] Reading half passages can lead to inaccurate interpretation. For instance, if we had read the entire passage, we would have discovered that the we were never meant to be the King. We are the servant who has been forgived a HUGE debt (sin) but refuse to forgive our brother. That issue aside however, the Bible Study was a reminder of the importance of forgiveness.
