I like Matthew 13:44-46 (The Parables of the Hidden Treasure and the Pearl)

QUOTE
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

Those are like the two shortest parables in the Bible, but I think it's really fitting, since they're talking about hidden treasures. It's so inspiring to see how we're supposed to view our relationship with God as an incredible treasure that we would give up anything (and everything) for, I guess especially since I find it so hard to do sometimes.

I'll just jump start some discussion and thought on our new Bible study topic, the Parables of Jesus. We'll be mainly looking at the books of Matthew, Mark and Luke to see how Jesus used simple stories to reveal deep truths about our walk and relationship with God. Sure, we learned the parables in Sunday School, but now they're not just stories!

So... Which is your favourite and why?
