I am running win XP home on 2 systems, and for right now I also have ubuntu linux on a dual boot system. I want to load slackware and get rid of ubuntu, but I need to make sure I can restore my master boot record with my HP recovery CDs.

Welllll....
*Flashback Music starts, the world goes wiiiiiiideeeeeescreeeeeeeen. Homestar pops out of nowhere*
My compy got full of viruses after a particularly nasty worm that knoced out Norton. Eventually, I got pissed enough to fix the PoS. Windows wouldn't reconfigure, and i needed to erase the harddrive by hand. Too bad the basic program was bugged. I used my copy of ubuntu to erase the harddrive and allow windows to reconfigure. The worm went out with a bang, screwing the hardware over as it went.

@ Fasga -> That would've been to easy, oh, and it KINDA DIDN'T OCCUR TO ME TO DO THAT! Where the hell were you 6 months ago when i needed that info!?
Or he could have used his XP install disk. You have the option to reformat the HDD when you set up your partitions. *thinks back to when tring to set up a RAID (RAID=redundant array of inexpensive disks- a way to get a lot more speed out of your hdds) hdd array, and the 2 drives kept showing up as 2 drives, instead of a single raid array...*

I'm a happy user of Ubuntu 6.06 on all my computers, including my server.
YES! That's the way to go! I would get ubuntu if i were to crawl into a nice Linux setup, but i'm not sure how my current computer would feel about a dual boot. It might get cranky, seeing how it's made for Win98.
What type of server do you run Kristian? AE's current invisionfree one is teh crap because no one can post attachments, all files must be hosted elsewhere...

My new pc is using Windows Vista Premiem, with a Terabyte (Tb) of harddrive memory and 4 Gb of RAM . . that should be enough for all the graphics and picture stuff I wanna do. Yes?
Now I need some programs.

I'm still useing Microsoft Windows 7, haven't been able to get Linux to dual boot. It just keeps windows but will not boot it.I tried Ubuntu but it was so screwed up kept crashing and when it did run firefox was unusable. I like Zorin OS but once again no matter how I install it Windows is rendard useless. God I hate Grub!
