Ah-haha, found an introductory section. I really need to have a better look around this site, I'm so unobservant... Hi, just wanted to well, say Hi to all those out there. I'm really bad at introductions so here goes anyway. I'm 19 years old (20 this year) live in the UK (woo! England!) and have been RPing for God-knows how long. I think I've tried all sorts, msn, hand-written, forum-based, MUDs, MUSHs, MOOs, tabletop, even a few instances of LARPing now and then lol.

I'm currently studying Film in university and am a fan of all things Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian - one day when I become big in the film industry I shall own a Victorian manor house mwhahahaha! My hobbys include writing (usually comedic fantasies that like to mock the fantasy genre ^^; ), reading, drawing, cosplaying, filming, swimming, and of course RPing smile.gif

Nice to meet you all in advance! biggrin.gif

*highfives* Film Studies is the bestest degree. <3 Especially when you've got a filming project and you're having to remind yourself constantly that filming an expo (ala march of the geeks) will not get you a good grade, no matter how much you want to take the pretty camera to record events.

*ahem*

^^;

I'm Ela. You may know me better as Purplefluffychainsaw. It's a pleasure to meet you. biggrin.gif

Ah hi there! ^^ And yes, Film Studies is the best degree. We've already started discussing what our 3rd Year Final project should be, and believe me, steampunkiness is already involved biggrin.gif We almost went to do our documentary project based on cosplay too, alas that idea was thrown in the bin as two meanie members of our group wanted to do it on some music or whatever >> Booooooring. Oh well hehe.

Win! You're lucky if you have cosplay people doing film studies with you though, all of mah buddies are doing Japanese and so buggering off for a year next year. Although we had Japanese cinema together last term which was a laugh (specially when my friend who's never studied film trashed the whole class with her film essay. She officially stole my rank of best bullshitter. XD)

And I was going to do "representation of women in Miyazaki and Disney" for my dissertation (already done it for a-level), but the cute Japanese teacher is leaving, so I'll probably fall back on "why everyone needs to worship LOTR (with costumes provided)".

Haha! For A-level I wrote an essay explaining how Miyazaki could be described as the closest possible thing to an auteur (because my theory is that auteurs do not exist tongue.gif Lol, I think my teacher was a bit flummoxed after that). And the others in my class aren't cosplayers, but they were all like "Yeah steampunk is awesome!" and seeing as they know I'm a cosplayer they always ask me to steal other cosplayers for extras and stuff in our films hehe.

XD That sounds like fun.

No one in my class knew what a cosplayer was. I had to explain in. Although there's one guy who has a habit of sitting behind me in lectures to lean over my shoulder and watch as I go through all the crap on my computer (including all my expo photos). He understands anime at least, even if he's a bit scary.

Blegh, scary guys are never fun. But I think there's one in every class unfortunately (there's one in mine for sure >>) he keeps saying he'll go to Expo, but I haven't caught sight of him yet - besides, he doesn't know what I cosplay anyway so he wouldn't be able to recognise me even if he did go! XD

(Also how does one RP here? lol I've made a most but no one's replied. I think I'm scary or something ^^; I hope not though!)

Gah! =_____= That is scary. I'd suddenly decide not to go to expo (except that I'm too much of a coward to try other cons so then I'd have cosplay-withdrawal and end up running around Oxford going I'M SAKURA LOLOLOLOL and scaring the tourists). As long as you don't let him find the expo website!

(Just be patient/join any new topics, lol. I was going to join it, but I still need to kick Tara (all mighty admin) into changing Luke's status so I can't post with him. And Lae's all busy like, and Ju has no reason to be lurking around that time. >>; I'll make another go at getting Tara to sort Luke's account out, and if no one's posted by that point I'll either throw Lae or Luke into the mix for you.)

(Lol cool haha, just wondering really ^^)

And nah, he's *very* recognisable so I couldn't miss him. Unfortunately another stalker of mine found me at Expo. It was like "Gahh nuuu!" so whenever me and my friends saw him they half-threw a jacket over me and we ran away, haha. But nah, stalkers wouldn't stop me going to conventions, I just avoid them and try not to let them ruin my good time. Either that, or just end up doing more crossplay! biggrin.gif

Urg, stalker people are scary. ;____; It's good that you managed to escape. But any excuse to do more crossplay is good. >>;

Haha yeah it is. Though to me crossplay really doesn't seem any different than cosplay - I thankfully invested in a chest binder pretty early on so its no effort at all for me to squish my boobs haha biggrin.gif
