A few of us took it upon ourselves to bombard them with anti-circ facts. One group was run by a woman, she ended up abandoning it and so now I'm the admin along with another anti-circ friend. The largest group is the Fixing God's Mistake one. It was really active when we started but we basically took it over. No one can post a pro-circ view without being jumped on. It means that if anyone goes there to read a pro-circ post, they have to read a lot of anti-circ facts first.

Whoa, "Fixing God's Mistake" is a PRO-circ group? I thought it was anti, I never read the posts or group description, admittedly. So basically that group is saying that the creation of a foreskin was a mistake on Gods part? That makes me sick, (belief in God or not) what ignorance! I thought it meant "Fixing God's Mistake[ of requiring circumcision]..." angry.gif

The group description is

"God fucked up thankfully our parents fixed his mistake"

If you read the posts it's a really good indicator of the aruments you'll hear a lot.

There are circumcision discussions in FGM groups too

male circumcision

male circumcision cannot be compared to FGM

but males get circumcised too

What are the reasons behind FGM and MGM

A lot of them get very heated.

You'll also find many debates in the anti-circ groups. People post in there just to yell at members and end up in big debates.

Wasn't there this mainly women's forum, where there was a really heavy debate going on, ummm...I really don't remember much else. Except this women had tried to prove her point that intact foreskins are gross by posting a youtube video of a couple of girls seeing one for the first time.

Immature american girls giggling like it was the first peen they'd ever seen. I saw that video, and I commented on it.

You know though, before I learned about circumcision, when I was a TEENAGER, I didnt realise that the cut penis wasnt normal, probably because I didnt even realise they were cut. Sad, huh. Then I went to Rome, and saw the art, and bought a book on Michaelangelo's paintings and sculptures. I just remember thinking "Why do they look so funny" - I didnt even know what a foreskin LOOKED like... and then years later I realised all of the men Michaelangelo painted were intact. How sad, eh?

Happily, I know better now and I dont think foreskins are disgusting.

I don't think that says anything bad about you. Just about the culture. First time I saw an American guy naked on tv, I thought something was wrong with his penis and couldn't figure out what it was. Even though he was flacid, he was "on display" I thought he had some sort of congenital defect. (I actually thought he was brave for not being afraid to be naked despite this abnormailty biggrin.gif) Didn't think it was particularily gross, just weird.

Yeah, pretty much the same. I knew I'd been cut, because I remember my mother giving me a really odd look when she was teaching Abraham in sunday school, maybe at about 8, which I didn't really understand then. Now I'm thinking it was kind of guilty "that's why I did that to you" but then I thought it seemed more of a "you had that done to you" without the other kids in the class hearing about my shlong. But it still stuck out as wierd to me.

Anyway, all through health classes and what not, no idea what the real difference was, until I stumbpled across the anti FGM site, asked the question, and got sucked into this. Thats when i saw pictures.
