Hello ladies and gentlemen. Well, I have been a bit busy with pixels and didn't have much time to do anything else, so I did this thing in about 15 mins:

And if just watching it isn't pleasing enough, here's a quick tut for it. Sit and enjoy. cool.gif

NOTE: This is not an easy tutorial to understand, mainly because I wrote it, but also because I don't explain most of the steps and the tools used. It was also done with Paint.Net, but I think you can do it with GIMP and PS as well.

I used the following Plugins for PdN (all obtainable from the PdN Forums):

-Smudge Tool
-Borders and Shapes (though it's not necessary)

1. Well, in this case I used an Iron Man render from PR. Link -> http://planetrenders.net/renders/displayimage.php?pos=-44617

Tip: Register an Account there so you can view the Renders Full-Size, it really helps quality.

2. On a new layer I made a Radial Gradient (Primary #725E67, Secondary Black). Duplicated the Render and merged it with the Gradient Layer, and smudged.

3. After some smudging, I pasted on a new layer the Render again, but this time a bit larger (without scaling it, actually). Did a Polar Inversion and then Motion Blur (radius between 270 and 360 would do fine, it's primarily to flow with the direction Iron Man is facing). I then set the Layer blend mode to Additive.

4. After messing a bit with Hue and Saturation, I found the ones I wanted (kind of a Gold-Brownish with low saturation as you can see) and duplicated the Iron Man layer. I added some noise (Intensity 62; Saturation 0; Coverage 56;25) and set the layer opacity to 165 (Blend mode Normal, you can try some others to achieve different effects).

5. The final step was the Border. I just used the Form-Shapes tool from PdN (don't know if PS or GIMP have it), but you can do it manually by doing a 10px high Rectangle on both sides.

And that's it. Notice how I achieved a nice piece without the need of using Text. Text generally takes out the attention from the Render. If text has to be added, I'd go with a small size (9-12), a good location (bottom corner) and a simple font (Arial works really good for these things).

Hope you enjoyed the tut. Expect more to come in the near future. wink.gif

That looks good. ohmy.gif
I wouldn't be able to do it though, no matter how easy the tutorial would be. laugh.gif

Kind of a late response...

What do you mean by Bloom?

>Taken directly from FarCry. It's a shader. You know when you take a picture, and light areas have a distinct glow around them?
