Ancient Legion > Hall of Past Events > AL's Impetuous Impulses Stealing Spree!!
Posted by: animal magik Feb 7 2009, 05:58 PM
| Date: 21st February (GMT, Saturday)
Time: 9:30PM GMT (4:30PM EST)
World/Meeting place: World 22, meet at Lumbridge Castle bank.
What to bring: A butterfly net, and make sure you have plenty of impling jars. You will also need a Dramen/Lunar staff, from Lost City quest or Lunar Diplomacy.
Extra info: We will be going into Zanaris, then if needed to, accessing the bank. After that we will step through the portal to Puro Puro, and begin harrassing and capturing the imps! =D
To start catching imps, you will need at least 17 hunter, though if you have higher, you will enjoy it more (so if you have low hunter, do some hunting now! )
Please feel free to take screenies, even of what all your imps are worth or what you get from looting them, and also, if you haven't done this event before and would like to practise, please go a few days BEFORE the event instead of 20 minutes before.
For more info - http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=impetuous_impulses.htm (I recommend you read that)

I'm sorry about this being 2 weeks away instead of 1, I was scheduling it in for the 14th, but then I realised a few of you might have Valentines plans so I decided to move it. Hope you don't mind the extra wait
Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 7 2009, 06:08 PM
| Oh, and you don't really need the dramen/lunar staff and second part of fairy tale to do it.
One can enter Puro Puro through the moving crop circle.
Posted by: animal magik Feb 7 2009, 06:09 PM
Yes, that's true, but it's more annoying to find
And I'd like us to go there as a group, too.
(Are you coming?) 8D
Posted by: Hellbound487 Feb 7 2009, 07:02 PM
| i might be able to come.
Hellbound487 - 76 (maybe higher by the time of event)
Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 7 2009, 07:52 PM
| I might come. I'll do my best to be present.
Also, it's not hard. What we need is one person to go to Zanaris and ask what's the current location of the other crop circle.
Posted by: starwolf_ftw Feb 7 2009, 08:23 PM
| I'll go, I might not be able to catch much, but it's fun.
Starwolf Ftw - Hunter Lvl : 37
Posted by: iamcoool11 Feb 7 2009, 09:30 PM
| ima coming!
iamcoool11-hunter level 37
Posted by: Hellbound487 Feb 8 2009, 12:00 AM
zanaris is way faster dude.... that way you dont need to walk halfway across rs just to find a crop circle
Posted by: dflame58 Feb 8 2009, 01:10 AM
im going to have to pass. Its not particularly fun with a higher hunter lvl.
Posted by: animal magik Feb 8 2009, 05:30 AM
Aww Flame, it won't be if we all go as a group.
But I respect your decision.
And Hell - exactly =D
Posted by: Lamb Bug Feb 8 2009, 07:48 AM
Waaaa I am too low hunter to catch any imps
Posted by: emad Feb 8 2009, 04:51 PM
I'll come if I get members by then.
Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 8 2009, 06:06 PM
Yes hell. Is faster through zanaris... But only if you managed to start Fairy Tale II. Otherwise, the only way to access Puro Puro is through the moving crop circle.
Posted by: animal magik Feb 9 2009, 06:10 AM
Arthur you don't have to use a fairy ring to get into Zanaris...
It's less then 1 minutes walk from lumbridge...
And Lamb you could just train it
It'd probably take you a day to get at least 40.
Posted by: Hellbound487 Feb 9 2009, 08:51 AM
im not done fairytale part 2 and i go imp hunting alot.... and you dont need it all you need is a dramen staff and walk into that old shed in lumby swamp it takes like 30 secs... then you can bank in zanaris go back to the wheat field in zanaris catch all you want come out bank repeat..
Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 9 2009, 02:25 PM
| True. I forgot about the small shack.
However, the statement still stands. You don't need a dramen/lunar staff to access Puro Puro.
Posted by: starwolf_ftw Feb 9 2009, 03:42 PM
As long as no one catches my Earth Imps, I'm ok with everyone else running around like crazy catching imps.
Posted by: Kerkennah Feb 9 2009, 11:49 PM
If i manage to get my hunter up then ill attend, im only at level 1 and i have no clue how to raise it.
Posted by: animal magik Feb 10 2009, 02:26 AM
| I never said you need one to get there, I said you need one for the event so we can all go together.
And Kerk, search a hunter guide on RSOF, there's some really helpful ones to get your hunter up quickly.
I have a feeling this event is gonna fail...
Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 10 2009, 10:50 AM
I know magik. Hell said it was too lame to search for the wandering crop circle . I bet he got his Dramen Staff before he got his hunter lv.
Posted by: starwolf_ftw Feb 10 2009, 12:03 PM
Animal, don't say that. If one person besides you shows up, then it's not failure. It just means the succes wasn't as large as expected. We just got to hope for the best.
Posted by: blompty2 Feb 10 2009, 12:24 PM
i have to agree! helpppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
Posted by: starwolf_ftw Feb 10 2009, 01:00 PM
| What's your level blompty?
Posted by: blompty2 Feb 10 2009, 01:25 PM
Posted by: starwolf_ftw Feb 10 2009, 02:02 PM
Wow...ok then. I might have to take time out of my camping at fire giants to help you here. Want to work on it tommarow?
Posted by: blompty2 Feb 10 2009, 02:07 PM
Don't worry. probaly buy some equipment from yanille now so...
Posted by: starwolf_ftw Feb 10 2009, 02:12 PM
Good luck getting it to 17, it's not too hard to get, but the higher you get it, the more stuff you can catch
Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 10 2009, 03:40 PM
| Oh... Those hours spent hunting kebbits on the woodland ground...
Hey, wait. Oh, forget it. I got to lv 17-20 hunter through rewards only.
Posted by: 3monightmar3 Feb 12 2009, 03:48 AM
i of course will be unable to attend but have fun to those who do
Posted by: animal magik Feb 12 2009, 06:50 AM
| =*=Materials Needed: =*=
1.) 3 Bird snares*
2.) 5 small nets*
[Small fishing nets. Catherby fishing store.]
3.) 5 ropes*
4.) 10 box traps.*
5.) Set of Larupia. (Hat, top, legs... You will get on your own at LEVEL 31 Hunter.)
*I suggest more materials then actually needed (snares, ropes, nets..)
At certain levels & using certain traps you can smoke and/or lay bait, but I never found that this was too effective, just a waste of time. I feel the same way with any sort of camouflage up to Larupia which is useful from 63 hunter and on.
Items Needed: Bird Snares.
Grab your bird snares and head south of Feldip Hills which is just south of Yanille & Castle Wars. I suggest using your ring of dueling (if you have one) to
get down to castle wars. If you do not have one.. tele to Adougne or simply walk from Cammy. PLEASE LOOK AT YOUR MAP...
you will want to go to the eastern part of this island to catch the birds. Once you see the Crimson Swifts lay down your trap and wait. They can knock the wooden part of your trap down, so if you see one do this you have to pick up the trap and lay it down again. Make sure
to step about 4 or 5 spaces away from the trap.
*I do warn you that this can be a bit frustrating in the beginning but I promise it gets a lot easier.*
Once you get to level 9, you may move on.
Copper Longtails. (61xp per.)
Items Needed: Bird Snares & 50gp.
These birds are located in the Woodlands which is located Southwest of Gnome Sronghold. To get there just walk North towards Eagles Peak and you should
come across a woman with a boat. Take the boat (for 50 gp) and when you get off, walk a little bit South until you come across the Copper Longtails.
Once again lay down your trap as you did previously.
Once you get to level 19, you can move on
Tropical Wagtails. (95xp per.)
Items Needed: Bird Snares.
Time to head back down to the Jungle.... these birds are located at the same place as Crimson Swifts but not the exact location.
If you remember where you were before, all you have to do is go all the way West from where the Crimson Swifts were, and then south.
You should then see the Tropical Wagtails.
As before, lay down the traps and wait..
[You can set up 2 at level 20 ]
Once you get to level 29, you can move on
=*= Level 29-47=*=
Swamp Lizards. (152xp per).
Items Needed: 4 or 5 Small Nets, and 4 or 5 Ropes.
This is where the exp starts to become a lot faster than before ... grab your nets and rope and head to Canafis.
(YOU MUST HAVE PRIEST IN PERIL QUEST DONE TO GET TO THIS AREA!)
EDIT: If you CANNOT complete the Priest in Peril Quest I suggest catching Tropical Wagtails until 23, moving on to Wild Kebbits at level 23 until 47.
Canafis is located just East of Varrock & the hunting area is just Southeast of the Canafis bank. As you are walking through the swamp,
you will come to a spot with trees where you can set up your traps. Just right click the tree and click "Set up Trap." You will automatically set up the trap,
then you wait. Once caught, you simply click on the trap and set it up again.
REMINDER: You may set up three traps at LEVEL 40, so don't forget!
Do this until Level 47 and then move on
Orange Salamanders. (224xp per.)
Items Needed: 4 or 5 Small Nets, 4 or 5 Ropes, Desert Robes, 10-15 Waterskins.
Orange sallys are located in the Desert. Head to Al Kharid, then South to Shantay Pass. Here you can purchase your pass, robes, and waterskins.
Then bank anything else you won't be needing. I suggest 10-15 waterskins which should last you a while, but take more if you prefer.
Simply, go East after passing through he Shantay pass across the bridge. You will see the same type of traps you saw while catching swamp lizards.
Do as you did before until Level 59, then move on
Red Salamanders. (275xp per)
Items Needed: 4 or 5 Small Nets, 4 or 5 Ropes.
After Orange Sallys comes very fast exp.. Red Salamanders. These are not hard to find. They are located North of Castle Wars at the Temple. Use your dueling ring (if you have) and then walk straight North from there. You will pass the Observatory... then you will find the temple. Once again,
you will see the same types of traps set up for swamp lizards, and orange sallys.
Here there are four traps... three in a triangle and one a little farther away than the others. This does get slightly annoying but it is the fastest exp.
at this level.
REMINDER: You can set up 4 traps at level 60.. don't forget!
Once you get Level 63.. MOVE ON!!
Before you begin catching chins; you'll need a set of Larupia.
To get a set of Larupia on your own... you can go down South of Feldip Hills.. and set up a Pitfall trap. To do this you need:
3.) Poking stick.
These creatures are located where the Tropical Wagtails were, and where to set up your traps is very clear.
If you need any help with this, please ask. It's really not that difficult.
Click on the pit with logs and a knife in your inventory to cover it.
Once you have done this poke the Spined Larupia with a teasing stick to lure it towards the pit.
Catch these to get your set then onto CHINS.
Also you may buy it off of players at varied prices.
I suggest making your own.
Red Chinchompas!!! (265xp per)
Items Needed: A set of Larupia (Hat, top, bottoms) and 5-8 Box traps.
You can now catch the infamous Red Chinchompas.
I know most of you say it's very very slow exp.. I admit it is not the fastest but this will make you more money. If you are not in it for the money, just the exp,
I suggest staying at Red Salamanders until 70 hunt.
Be patient. It gets faster and in my opinion it was never really all that slow as people make it out to be.
The best spot in my opinion is (PLEASE LOOK ON THE MAP) the spot right to the east of the most Northen river.
If you need me to show you how I set up my traps, I will gladly do so.
REMINDER: You can set up 5 traps at Level 80, so don't forget to do so.
It's exactly 47,796 Red Chins until 99 from 63.
They can sell for 800-900ea atm.
If prices vary, I will update accordingly.
Let's do some math
(Don't stop at 47.7k.. get to 48k.)
= 48,000 * 800 = 38.4m
= 48,000 * 850 = 40.8m
= 48,000 * 900 = 43.2m
Nice for only spending 5k Max.
Taken directly from RSOF.

Posted by: animal magik Feb 13 2009, 05:49 PM
I found that guide on RSOF ages ago, and I haven't found a better one since, so, for everyone with low hunter wanting to get it up for the event, they can use that.
Posted by: 3monightmar3 Feb 13 2009, 09:32 PM

it sounds really fun and id really like to go but i cant. have a good time though
Posted by: iamcoool11 Feb 16 2009, 09:35 AM
hey, i just realized something. Starwolf and I have the same hunter level.
Posted by: 101laxkid2 Feb 16 2009, 10:54 AM
| my hunter is like 9 i think >_<
That guide looks cool though Unfortunately, ive never been one who can really sit somewhere doing the same thing for more than half an hour... For some reason i demand some kind of excitement in my RS life
Ill try and get my hunter as high as i can... maybe make some cash too
If i get to 17 by the end of the week, ill rpobably be there though
Also, you dont need to complete fairy tale pt. 2 to get access to fairy rings, you only have to go up to the part where fairy operator or whatever shows you how. Then you can go wherever you want
see you there (hopes)
Posted by: tidus6570 Feb 16 2009, 11:28 AM
put me down as possible, i dont know if i will be busy that day
Posted by: animal magik Feb 17 2009, 03:48 AM
Plus you don't even need the fairy rings to get to Zanaris/Puro Puro.
Posted by: Icewolf68 Feb 17 2009, 07:43 AM
Correction: I have the highest Hunter 83 Hunter ftw!
Posted by: 101laxkid2 Feb 17 2009, 03:04 PM
| Ill definitely show up, I got nothing that day and i already got 33 hunter in like a day
My goal is 60 by the event For some reason, it seems that hunter is actually more fun to train than other skills... I dont know why.
The quest you need to do in order to have (conveniant) access to Puro-puro is lost city... not as hard as it might seem. IF your planning on doing it, the best way to kill the tree spirit if you are low cb is to bring fire spell runes, and safespot it.
Hope to see you all there
Posted by: matlew5 Feb 18 2009, 12:51 AM
cant make it i dont htink but put me down as a possibility
Posted by: animal magik Feb 18 2009, 01:28 AM
Yeah I found it that way until I got to red chins, then it got boring coz you don't move on to anything new.
And Ice, you have highest hunt in the clan, except you aren't on the runehead for some reason. =/
(And Ice are you coming? :K)
Posted by: Donovan Kays Feb 18 2009, 06:18 AM
Ill probably be able to come
Posted by: animal magik Feb 21 2009, 05:19 PM
I am so sorry I didn't show guys, my internet crashed just as I was getting on and stopped me making it.
Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 21 2009, 05:44 PM
I couldn't come too, neither the war (were there a war after all?) nor the event, cuz today was the lasty day to hand in a report on bug-testing a game's trunk version.
