I'd like to know what time will most of our EC's be online, so I could try and organize/schedule a race.
What I had in mind is we set our EC's all over Gielinor and use them as "checkpoints", while our members race for the finish line.

Lol, this question is funny because I'm on almost all the time. Work from home for the win! biggrin.gif

Ok. But a race with one start line and a finish line and no checkpoints?

Posted by: starwolf_ftw Feb 12 2009, 02:42 PM
Checkpoints are kind of a good idea. Like the first three to a check point recieve a prize, OR (I just thought of this) the members must bring a certain item to each different coordinator. Kinda makes it a scavenger hunt/race style? You like biggrin.gif

Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 12 2009, 02:48 PM
That wasn't quite the idea.
I though we set EC around gielinor and one of them is the start line and another is the finish line, and ppl had to go, (in any order they want) to all checkpoints and then go to the finish line.
But your idea of an "Amazing Race" is even better. But instead of just bringing items, other things should be done, like:
>>CHECKPOINT!<<
Kill chickens and bring the EC 100 feathers.
or
>>CHECKPOINT!<<
Obtain five different kinds of cooked food.

Great idea! But we still need all EC's online for that.

Lol - "The Amazing Race - RS Style!"

Imagine if we did this on P2p... but we can't do this alone. We could make this a multiclan event possibly? But first we'll have to try it out ourselves tongue.gif

Posted by: Sword User Feb 23 2009, 07:11 PM
Sounds like a fun idea, I can be on any time that isn't really late/early for GMT..

Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 23 2009, 08:52 PM
OMG star. you gotta have thought of this already...
Agreed with him. Maybe a multi clan race? But then we'd have to organize with more ppl, synchronize our EC's with theirs and.... and.... OMG! I SO LIKED THIS IDEA!

EDIT: How can we schedule an event with our allied clans? I have no idea on how to do this.

Posted by: animal magik Feb 25 2009, 02:09 AM
Lol contact them and ask them if they'd like to do it?

Posted by: starwolf_ftw Feb 25 2009, 09:10 PM
I already have contacts within TZ (bad contact) and LTH (good contact). We could try it with them, but not until we try it ourselves first. Remember to test within the clan first like we did with contests, after a few successful tries, then we'll branch out.

No, I haven't really thought about doing it with more clans, but I do seem to have that mindset to connect other clans to one another. I guess I'm just a good represenative of customs or something, because LTH and TZ both wanted to do our multiclan comp hands down with no problems (til after the contest dry.gif )

Posted by: dflame58 Feb 25 2009, 09:13 PM
loool part of amazing race. u have to go through 1 of the agility courses with out falling.

Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 26 2009, 11:28 AM
Ok, then. We're doing this.
We just need to find a time good for most of our EC's.
QUOTE (dflame)

anytime after 5pm EST I could do. except on weekends. My playtime on weekends is sporadic.

QUOTE (Wolfclaw)

Yes, I could do this, but please may it be on the weekend?

QUOTE (Animal Magik)

I'm good for 9 pm GMT until around 11 am GMT on a Sunday (for me).

Until March 13, I'm online after 12:00 EST

Til I finally land another job, I'll be on quite a bit at a variety of times. So until I get a job, anytime will be a good time for me biggrin.gif

Also Arthur, what happens for you on March 13th? (oh noes! another Friday the 13th! ohmy.gif )

Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 26 2009, 12:10 PM
LOOOOL!!!! laugh.gif
No. My classes start at March 15th, so I gotta gather up school books, sharpen pencils, restock my rubber...... stock. So I prolly won't be able to spend 12 hours online as I do now. Maybe 7 or 8 hours tongue.gif

Posted by: animal magik Feb 28 2009, 12:16 AM
We should do it on March 22, my bday ftw?

Posted by: K Arthur90 Feb 28 2009, 01:22 PM
It's ok for me.
How about the other EC's?

Posted by: starwolf_ftw Mar 1 2009, 01:28 AM
That's really far ahead.. 3 weeks. I don't know yet, but I'll keep you guys posted. Btw, should we start thinking about what our checkpoints are going to be?

i'm fine with whenever. for now. I might be getting a job tho :/

Oh... you grown ups and jobs....
Thank god I didn't manage to get on university so I can still dedicate all my time to prepare myself to try and get on university again.....tongue.gif
Oh.....huh.gif
What the hell am I saying?!???? I was supposed to be on university already sad.gif

Anywho.... dflame said that we could have someone to pass the agility course w/o failing. The main problem is that most of AL is F2P, so we can't extrapolate too much. We should try to get as much closer as possible to the real Amazing Race. We should try checkpoints that involve interaction with players from outside the race, things that require skill and a tiny bit of luck, things like that.

Well, here's a thought for checkpoint activities.

- bring 200 feathers (about 10-25 kills at chickens)
- make 50 air runes at air altar (someone must be there as a checkpoint)
- Kill a guard and show a net drop gain of 2k gp (checkpoint could be in varoc or faly)
-mine silver in al karid mine
-catch 5 tuna on karamja docks
-kill a lesser demon

That's all I got so far, and all are f2p. Everyone can come up with some others and we'll have to pick abour 4 of them since there are only 5 of us left... sad.gif

Also, how about we have the race end at Champions guild or White Knight Castle?

Posted by: dflame58 Mar 2 2009, 07:27 PM
that sounds a bit like a RS world acheivement diary to me.

Posted by: K Arthur90 Mar 2 2009, 08:20 PM
We don't actually have to have only 4... we can have 8. look:

Race starts at GE. EC1 is there to give the initial GO! shout.
EC2 will be near aubury. Task: Mine 20 essences.
EC3 will be near barbarian village. Task: Fish and cook five (put fish here).
EC4 will be near falador north gate. Task: (insert task here)
EC1 will have teleported to Falador and will be standing near the air altar. Task: 50 air runes.
EC2 will also have teleported to Falador, standing on Port Sarim's Pub. Task: Bring x feathers.
EC3 may have enough time to go to Karamja Volcano. Task: 1-5 (up to the cbt lv of the racers) ashes (presumably from Lessers)
EC4 will be at Brimhaven Gate (outside, of course) waiting for the winners.

.,.... maybe tongue.gif

I think that it would be good for each EC to know the task but not say what it is until the person arrives. you are probably thinking that too though.

Posted by: K Arthur90 Mar 2 2009, 09:11 PM
All EC's don't need to know what the other EC's must do. EC1 must only focus on his two tasks. Then it'd be easier.
And yeah, dflame. We'd only say where the EC's/checkpoints would be and the task would be said on the fly.
What do you say about those checkpoints?

Posted by: dflame58 Mar 3 2009, 01:03 AM
i think we should be sticking to non combat things. then everyone can do it and u wont have to worry about going back to get armor and food.

Posted by: starwolf_ftw Mar 3 2009, 01:29 AM
I do feel some combat stuff would be neccessary because then it wouldn't really be like "amazing race," it should be who can complete it the fastest, and combat stuff will be the best curveball stuff we can through because I'm sure we all can kill a lesser demon easily with nothing on tongue.gif . They can even use the fish caught for one task as food for another.

Posted by: dflame58 Mar 3 2009, 01:49 AM
thats a good idea to make the tasks go together kinda.

Posted by: K Arthur90 Mar 3 2009, 01:36 PM
That's why I thought of the "mine 20 essence" task, and then "craft runes".
Also that can give options for the racer: Either buy the remaining 30 off GE or mine them. Either way they're gonna have two trips to the altar.

Not neccessarily, remember at 11 rc you make 2 airs per essence wink.gif

But we shan't say that smile.gif It's up to the racers to remeber that tongue.gif

Posted by: animal magik Mar 4 2009, 03:43 AM
Maybe craft a certain number of ess into runes and find their rc lvl so you know, instead of craft a certain number of the runes.

That's too much work, just crafting a certain amount of air runes would be fine.

Really? So craft 30 ess into air runes is too hard other then craft 30 air runes? Wouldn't really be fair to people with lower RC, unless you made it so the number required is less then 28 so banking wouldn't be required.

If people have less then 11 rc, then it's their own fault in not raising it, and therefore should have the penalty of getting more ess. I mean, you can get 11 rc at about 13 trips to air altar from level 1. It isn't that hard. Not to mention I think we may have only 2 members who don't have 11 rc.

Posted by: K Arthur90 Mar 5 2009, 01:24 PM
Actually banking should be necessary. Not only to give players something more to do, but to give time to other EC's to tele around the course.

Man, that's during my spring break. I think I can attend, but I'm not sure...

Posted by: K Arthur90 Mar 7 2009, 06:55 PM
That's the problem with the race it needs too many ppl online at the same time sad.gif

Posted by: dflame58 Mar 7 2009, 10:14 PM
I think we should set a date and then shorten or lengthen the race on the spot, but have some preset things in advance.

Posted by: animal magik Mar 8 2009, 04:45 AM
I can make that. smile.gif

Posted by: K Arthur90 Mar 8 2009, 08:07 PM
My ideas:
Get x feathers (25-50)?
Mine 20 essence
Craft 30 essence
Kill 5 Guards and show the bones for keeping track of killed guards.

Posted by: starwolf_ftw Mar 8 2009, 08:13 PM
Here's my opinions for possible checkpoins

- air altar (make so many air runes)
- white knight castle (Kill white knight,
- lumby church (bring 5 goblin chestplates or 200 feathers)
- al karid mine (Mine 5 silver or of a higher ore)
- remmington well (make a leather hardbody, cut 28 willow logs)
- draynor sewers (kill a zombie, make a longsword {any metal})
- wizard tower (show full rune with a rune weapon, mine 2 loads of essence)
- ge (random, can't think of anything tongue.gif )
- varoc museum (show 1k worth of loot from guards, make 50 earth runes)
- karamja docks (fish 10 lobster or tuna, kill a lesser demon)

The events don't have to be neccessary for the certain locations, that would make things interesting.

my ideas.

smithing at fally place to the north.
black knights castle.
runecrafting tower place south of draynor.
wc at draynor.
somthing with shearing and then making ball of wool. ( that will be fun for them tongue.gif)
smelt in al karid.
tan leather in al karid

all i thik of now.

"runecrafting tower place south of draynor" is Wizard's tower.

I'd say this:
Let's say EC1, EC2, EC3 and EC4.
EC1 is at GE, as well the racers. He says:
"The essence of the world. Your task is to mine twenty rune essences."
The players must then go to Aubury with their pickaxes and mine 20 ess, and show it to EC1 who will be outside Aubury.
After verifying 20 ess, EC1 will say, via PM:
"Ironman. Your task is to mine 10 iron ores, and deliver it to EC2 on Varrock's Plaza Centre"
EC2 will be at the Plaza Centre waiting for 10 iron ores. He'll PM:
"Black & White. You shall wear any white piece of clothing or armor and kill five black knights on their castle. Bring the bones.
EC3 will be at the Black Knights castle waiting for the bones. He'll PM:
"Smith the Smith. You shall bring five iron daggers to Doric's Anvil.
EC4 will be at Doric's Anvil. He'll PM:
"The elixir of life. You must get 10 water buckets on Falador."
EC1 will be on Falador Central Plaza. He'll PM:
"Bring the ocean breeze. Craft 30 air runes."
EC2 will be near the farming store/cabbage patch waiting for the runes. He'll PM:
"Log on log off. You must cut five willow logs, and light them on a row near the pub"
EC2 again will wait to see five fires made by the player until he PM's him:
"What now? Seek for EC3 on Lumbridge's Swamp. He'll give you an item, and you must put it to use.
EC3 will be somewhere on Lumb's Swamp holding a few shears and ten balls of wool, noted. Players will have those shears and see the 5 balls of wool on the trade screen. Then they must figure out they need to shear 5 sheeps and make 5 balls of wool and return them to the same EC. He'll PM:
"Moo! Gather five cowhides and take them to the tanner on Al-Kharid.
EC4 will be at Al-Kharid Tanner waiting for four soft or hard leathers from each player.

Some more ideas?

Posted by: starwolf_ftw Mar 8 2009, 10:53 PM
That seems waaaay more complicated then we need to make. That's just my opinion. Can we possibly tone it down some?

Posted by: K Arthur90 Mar 9 2009, 03:58 PM
Yeah.... *looks sideways* It's a tiny little bitsy over-complex. It should be able to organize since each EC must only know what task to offer and where to point for the next EC.

But I'm OK as long as you get what I had in mind with that. We should, if possible, have:
Mining Essesences> ME
Mining Ores> Starwolf
Killing Creatures and Bring their bones> Magik
Smithing Daggers (since they're one bar each)>Dflame
Crafting Runes >ME
Cut and light logs >Starwolf
Shear and spin Wool balls. >Magik

and Dflame can wait at the finish line.
Is everyone ok with it?

Posted by: starwolf_ftw Mar 9 2009, 08:31 PM
What about Sword? He could help too lol tongue.gif

Posted by: K Arthur90 Mar 9 2009, 08:50 PM
Well. I'm out of ideas for checkpoints. We either add sword on the current checkpoint list, thus giving some more time for the EC's to tele, or create two more checkpoints.
