Ancient Legion Warring Guide - How to Pile

Please follow along the written guide as you are watching the video as well. Please re watch and pay special attention to the mouse cursor and clicking / timing if you need to. There's nothing wrong if you don't understand / see everything the first time. That's what this topic's staying here for ^_^ . Hopefully this guide will allow a better uniform piling during our clan's wars. Enjoy :)

Ancient Legion Warring Guide

How to Pile

As you watch the video, please follow along this guide, so you understand what is going on.

In this video, I, Kevinsaurus am the warlord, and Old Faintman, Litoua, and Dark Shot53 are in my clan. Tomas Speed served as the opposing clan, the person whom we were piling.

In the beginning of the video, you can see that the warlord makes a call to make everybody fall in, and everybody in the clan does so quickly. During a war, the warlord may tell everybody to fall in after killing somebody to stay organized before moving onto the next pile. It is essential that clan members pay attention to the clan chat or public chat for the warlord’s messages that say fall in. During a war, a clan member’s caller should be set to the warlord so things he/she says will appear there and will be more easily seen.

When starting the pile, although it is not shown in this video, other clan members should spam the main pile to make it very obvious to other members in the clan who the main pile is.

One important thing that needs to be practiced when piling is the concept of “piling hugs”. The person who is tanking, in this video Tomas Speed, will generally hug around barriers a multitude of times. As you can see with my mouse cursor showing in the video, to avoid getting “stuck” behind barriers, I click around the barrier to around the center of the other side, before I reach the edge of the barrier. As soon as my character crosses to the other side, I immediately continue to attack the pile target. This is a necessary skill for all clan members to have. Unfortunately it is very difficult and requires a lot of practice to master. (If you want to have 1 on 1 training with this, let me or Tomas Speed know and we can help you out).

Up until about 3:20, the piling is done only around one wall barrier and a flag. The following section of the video shows the piling of Tomas Speed around the entire arena of center bounds (all four barriers). As expected, this proves to be more difficult, but again the key is correct anticipation based on Tomas’s tanking patterns and being able to click ahead.

*NOTE* With the recent Rest update, players can now sit down and rest to regain run energy quickly. During piling, If a clan member (i.e. you) runs out of run energy, it is allowed that he/she rest to regain run energy. However, make sure there are still several people on the pile for the pile to still be evident and effective. When resting, one should rest to approximately 70% run energy and then continue piling.
