Title: Armours...
Description: Read a "article" here

King Arthur - June 15, 2009 02:16 AM (GMT)
> I just bought my dragon chain. It was the last step I needed to fully get rid of my free-to-play armour. (no offences, though :P)

> But, the problem is Dragon Chainbody was more of a placeholder untill I get enough money to buy anything good, seeing that D Chain is a slightly better Rune Platebody.
> The problem is that to choose an armour, I take in account three things:
> 1. Price. I am poor. Period. I make 120k/day, double if I dedicate to it during the day. Unless someone names a way with a acceptable danger/time-consuming/fast rate, I'm sticking to my current one. Seeing that to reach 10m for example would take me about 4 and a half months (2,25 if I dedicate exclusively to it), I can't spend 16m on a nice armour set, so price is a main thing to be accounted.
> 2. Coolness. No matter how good an armour can be, I still want to look good. Either matching colours, or matching motifs, I won't use a proselyte platebody with black d hide, obby cape and a godsword. It's just.... not right.
> 3. Usefulness. An armour that needs recharging every hundred thousand points is not good for me. An weapon which ammunition needs to be picked/made at Isafdar with resources from Morytania is also not good.

> So, when choosing the next piece of armour (which in this case will be platebody) I need to take those three things in account.

> I've heard a few suggestions and picked the top 3 to start with (unless someone comes up with an even better armour)

> Dragon Platebody, Bandos Platebody, Torag Platebody.
> Ima rate them (0, 5, or 10) for each aspect I mentioned before.

> Dragon Platebody
> Price - 5
> 9 mil. It'd take 1,5 months to get there with my current money-making process.
> Coolness - 10
> C'mon, ain't red the best colour ever? That red shiny metal! And what about ostentating the name "Dragon". It's nice to answer: "I'm wearing full dragon"! :P
> Usefulness - 5
>While not being the best armour ever, the Dragon Platebody does protect against the most used attack styles: Stab and Slash, hence quite useful. It's Crush defence is quite good too, although there are other armours with better stats. Doesn't need recharging, although it weighs a few kilos...

> Bandos Platebody
> Price - 0
> 14 mil. It'd take 3,2 months to get there with my current money-making process.
> Coolness - 5
> Bandos. The God of War. Nice name to put on an armour. However, it's black/marooon-ish... It doesn't match the rest of the red set I already have, not even the enchanted Neitiznot helm (bright bathroom-tiles blue)
> Usefullness - 10
> It hasn't the best stab/slash defence ever, but it protects against pretty well against ranged and crush, so broad tipped and brutal arrows won't have effect on me, also giving prayer bonus and strenght bonus.

> Torag Platebody
> Price - 10
> 266,8k - It'd take..... three days to get there! \o/
> Coolness - 0
> Torag? He wasn't even a god... Was he? Besides, his armour look like a black, golden trimmed armour... What other pieces of armour match maroon-ish/gold-ish ancient loogin armour besides Torag legs?
> Usefulness - 0
> Why would I use an armour that degrades? Like... the armour is so good that it breaks in the middle on the battle... And I have to pay to repair it. AND... The repair is so horrible that it breaks again! No way I'll use something degradable... I paid for it and I expect it to be avaiable to me 24/7. Who would pay for a super high tech computer, with 0,5 PB of HD, 5 GB of RAM, 2 GB of video that every 7 times you log off the computer you need to pay for it again? It's like buying a coke machine for your own house... Besides, it can't be lent.... So no extra money-making from it...

> So... For now, I'm sticking with Dragon Platebody. Unless someone tells me a better money-maker (remember the danger/time-consuming/fast rate!) or shows me a non-degradable cool, unexpensive and useful armour.

> If anyone wants to suggest or criticize something....
> Feel free to do so.

I love how this is biased. Im sorry, but it is >.<

My run down, unbiased, as much as possible. FYI, i dont own any of these. Ill also add a stats section.

Dragon Plate

Coolness - 5 - Pretty cool, i guess. It looks pretty sweet. Although, i personally, dont care for it too much.
Price - 0 - Much to overpriced to what it is, try 2-3m, and it might work.
Stats - 5 - Better than the chain, but still not really great stats.
Usefulness - 0 - Your definition of useful is off >.<, FYI. You should never use this combat, really. You can get better stats for the money, so why dont you? Its more a show of wealth, really.

Bandos Plate

Coolness - 10 - I got give you that, Bandos looks amazing. I think it is really sweet.
Price - 0 - Same here, its overpriced for its stats, again.
Stats - 5-10 - It has pretty good defense bonuses, and a strength bonus, but i do believe it can be better.
Usefulness - 5-10 - Great for strength training, and against monster that generally dont hit you, but you could get some better armour if you wanted to for it.

Coolness - 5 - Id like to point one thing out, so what if he isnt a god? Big woop. I bet you had no idea who Bandos was before God Wars >.<...and neither did i, honestly. Anyway, i do believe it is pretty cool, but could be improved. Also, to awnser your question to the trim (which is looks nothing like black, honestly), is Dharoks...
Price - 10 - Extremely cheap.
Stats - 10 - Extremely good defense stats, Im pretty sure best in the game. No strength bonus, but imo, the defense makes up for it.
Usefulness - 5 - Im doubting youll be using this for boss fighting or anything (:P), but it is great for tanking and camping.

Also, my rant at your "ZOMG IT DEGRADEZ". Corrupt equipment, i can understand. 30 minutes? WTF? It DISAPPEARS? WTF?. The rest, i really cant. FoG armour is pretty much the best F2P armour in the game. Thats why i use it for wars. It takes 1-2 hours to get, and its nothing. It takes a long time to degrade, too, and when it does, it just takes 1-2 hours to repair again. Not hard. Barrows, i also disagree with. It takes a LONG time for barrows to degrade, (longer than than FoG armour to degrade) 15 hours in combat, to be exact. That takes a LONG time to degrade. And even when it does, it just costs 330k to repair, which, in that time, should have been easy to make. It seems like a small price to pay for the advantages it gives. Thats my opinion on it, and most peoples, too.

EDIT - That every 7 times you log off, it breaks? Your kidding >.<...try closer to every 15-20, it slowly breaks, would be a better metaphor. degrading armour isn't bad at all. In fact, its good.
EDIT2 - Also, if you DO decide to get Torags , get the full set without the hammers (hammers suckzorz). It looks the best, costs extremely cheap, and looks better than mixing-and-matching sets. It would look ugly with d legs or something, ofc.

no the way arthur rates what armour he's gonna get

RunescapeVII - June 15, 2009 09:04 AM (GMT)
Degrading really isn't that bad. I just reapired my Dharoks pl8 and it lasted almost 2 weeks of constant use. That 90k (or less if you can use POH's armour stand) is not so much since it has better defence bonuses than dragon platebody. Sure I'd buy Dragon plate or Bandos rather than barrows if I had the money...

ever considered avianses?

Ah, i see.

Arthur got pwnt in this thread

Just get barrows, the best armour in the game for the price.

King Arthur - June 15, 2009 09:55 PM (GMT)
> I'll probably get bandos instead of dragon pl8 (if I get enough money), but I'll never buy a degradable item. Ever. Nothing is gonna change that. I don't care if I need to repair it from 10 to 10 days or from 10 to 10 years. I should never need to pay. If at least repairing it was free, but we have to pay when we repair ourselves! Imagine breaking a eletric socket. You got the spare one, you know how to repair it, you can repair it, but you need to pay (to an invisible one) for you to repair it...
> Also, coolness isn't "discussable". That's exclusively my opinion.
> Price is only based on how long would it take me to get its price.
> Usefulness are purely the amount of defence points, not including specials, sets or anything else, as well being degrading armour or not.

Lord - June 16, 2009 04:11 PM (GMT)
