Well....the moon in RS doesn't have to relate to the moon in RL, so yea...

scarthur68 - April 26, 2009 11:35 PM (GMT)
i think just a tiny bit of shading on the moon craters and ur solid. if your bored you can add in a galaxy =O

CyberianWolf - April 26, 2009 11:41 PM (GMT)
Ah man - right on,

I think this is your best one yet.
Love the colors and details to the defense cape.

I gotta agree with Techy...the moon needs a little work.

Love it!

Thanks for the tips... Maybe I'll bring a pic up of the moon and try to recreate it or something. It means alot to me that you guys said that, keeps me encouraged.

Cyber, you want our pic to be like this?

Icewolf68 - April 27, 2009 03:04 AM (GMT)

Yes, it is indeed done in paint :P

I plan to do a group Wolf bro pick soon in this style featuring Wolfclaw, Cyberianwolf, Icewolf, and I. Hopefully I can crank something out, it'll be tough with 4 bodies in one pick.

Icewolf68 - April 27, 2009 04:53 AM (GMT)
I'll be the hawtest/noobcakiest one of the group, right? ;)

starwolf_ftw - April 27, 2009 04:55 AM (GMT)
Well have to see... It'll be in the same style as this siggy I made, so what color you want to be? Guessing white as ice? :P

Chuffa - April 27, 2009 06:36 AM (GMT)
Awesome, as i told you before, is the blue supposed to be water at the bottom?

starwolf_ftw - April 27, 2009 06:39 AM (GMT)
Could be, I really don't know. Couldn't do any ground colors because all I had were bright browns and greens. Color selection is crappy on paint.

I guess it could be water, but I'll add waves or something if it's bothering ya. lol

Chuffa - April 27, 2009 06:46 AM (GMT)
Add some waves, it will look awesome :)

animal magik - April 27, 2009 06:52 AM (GMT)

Lol better then I could do. :P

I'll not be nice since that wouldn't help you at all, so I'll go directly to the critics. ;)

- For the stars, http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/727/dibujo2y.png & http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/3586/dibujogbv.png work fine.

-Some shading needed, at least imo, don't know if you wanted to achieve a pixel like the one I made. It just looks nicer AA'ed.

-Usually, Small White Black-Bordered Text is fine. :D

-You need to work on the guy's perspective, seems a bit off to me.

-As for the BG, you could fill it with some mountains (like the ones I made), they're easy and take plenty of space. Clouds work too.

Keep practicing and you'll succed. ^_^

starwolf_ftw - April 28, 2009 12:00 AM (GMT)
Thanks Lit. I needed some of the constructive criticism like that. I'll see if I can improve on it. Perspective is another thing I need to work on, don't have much practice on it.

No idea how, but I thought I saw the words "overfilled with joy" in your post >.<

Starwolf Ftw - April 28, 2009 06:26 PM (GMT)
Animal, that's constructive criticism, and it's exactly what I was asking for. I know Lit is great using photoshop and making pixels and I wanted some pointers, and he gave me more then I bargained for.

If you think it was harsh, post something in the Tip.it forums gallery, now that is where you will cry.

Starwolf Ftw - April 29, 2009 10:46 AM (GMT)
Tried to fix it up again.. Did the following :

-Removed some stars and used Lit's techniques
-Fixed bits of the head and neck to make it look more realistic and better perspective
-Fixed up the moon a bit
-added some texture to the waves
-added some shading to some areas

It's on the first post, please rate and offer advice if any.

No! The last thing I wanted was to offend anyone with my post, sorry if I did. :(

About the new piece, I'd go with a more rounded and smaller moon. Not saying that you use the elipse tool (which imo sucks), you can do it manually. The colors should go from light greys/purples to darker ones. The texture is very random in the shades, so you can go crazy and add colors everywhere, and get them to AA eachother. If you don't know this effect, I'll upload a pic.

Starwolf Ftw - April 30, 2009 08:11 AM (GMT)
Ok, last attempt on this before I move on and start working on other pieces of the wolf pack siggy.

Did the following :

-More shading
-Recolored some to match the brightness of the pic
-Redid moon completely
-Added few more stars to make up for moons lack of size

I know there are things that can still be improved, but I'm ready to move on to another piece, and Cyber it's going to be yours.

Dylan - April 30, 2009 08:37 AM (GMT)
ooooh nice work there in paint! you should try the gimp, its free, and very simular to Ps.

Starwolf Ftw - May 5, 2009 09:16 AM (GMT)
Well Cyber, I got most of yours done. This is what I got so far...

This was hard because of the color scheme I chose, and I managed to give you the 'Indie' look I hope you wanted.

I know there are holes that can be filled up with something for the background, but I really don't know what to put there. A desert is a desert, barren and empty.

I know this probably isn't my best work, but I'm not sure. I still had fun making this. :D

For those who want to, please rate and offer hints, tips, and advice. :D

3monightmar3 - May 5, 2009 12:02 PM (GMT)
wow man those r awsum... 10/10 :D

Lit - May 5, 2009 05:36 PM (GMT)
I must admit, that's your best so far. Great, no, excellent shading on the Rock! You missed the shadows though, remember it's a desert, the Sun hits hard there!

Indiana Wolf could have used a bit more shadows, and his anatomy seems kinda off.
Try working on smaller characters, so they don't look too 'empty' and you don't have to shade that much.

Another thing I'd like to see is less saturated colors. Below 125 Saturation is fine, specially on the Sky and the Pickaxe.

What you did on the sand amazes me. That kind of texturing is defineatly a pro's. ^_^
Again, try smaller Text. Some of the Bits sub-group from DaFont are the best for Pixels.

Keep it going. :)

Starwolf Ftw - May 5, 2009 05:44 PM (GMT)
Thanks Lit, that means alot to me. Yes the color choice and shading are kinda iffy on this one, but my color selection is pretty bad because I don't know how to use the custom color creator. :(

Anatomy, yea kinda weird at parts. Had to stop sometimes mimic the action and look at myself in a mirror to see arm and hand positioning. Chose a really hard pose and I was kicking myself at times last night, but I'm glad I got it finished.

mastaofmelee - May 5, 2009 07:35 PM (GMT)
Very nice Wolfe, I have no idea how you do it. That takes some major patience and a lot of talent. 10 out of 10 in my opinion. :D

Lit - May 5, 2009 08:16 PM (GMT)
Yes, I agree Colors suck in MS Paint. Though you don't need to use Custom Colors at all, just double left-click the color you want to change, and de-saturate it. When you want it back, simply double left-click again and select it from the left color palette.

Or you can move to another Graphics Program, but that's up to you. MS Paint is pretty basic, which makes it simple to use, but if you feel in need of some more "shortcuts" (more Zoom, easier paletters, Layers etc.), you can always get GIMP or PdN (free) or Photoshop (expensive). :)

Free PS is either ilegal or you need to be taking Graphic Design classes. :P

Never heard of PnD, maybe you meant PdN? That's what I use for pixels, I can confirm it's as good as PS and GIMP, for pixels and tags alike.
