starwolf_ftw - April 24, 2009 02:43 AM (GMT)
Well here are our new forum rules. I wrote them and Golden grammatically corrected it in a few places. This is what we will run the forums off of now, so be sure to follow them!

This has also been pinned in the Joining Forum and is also implemented on the Applications as well...

If you have any questions, we're all ears. :D

Hello and welcome to Ancient Legion's forums! This is where as clan members collaborate and talk about just about anything that comes to mind. We have our forums divided into sections relating to what is being discussed in the forum.

Sections of the Forums

Council: This forum is for where every member that has acheived a rank of Full Member and higher can talk in clan discussion, such as new rules that are being passed and critiques over just about anything that relates to the clan as a whole.

Clan: This forum is for our news, upcoming wars, events you might want to be apart of, and of our skilling competitions. Come here and post in topics that you'll want to participate in.

Diplomacy : This forum is used for mainly our newest members to post their Trial Member and Full member applications. Also, our allies and other clans use this section to declare wars and host allied events with us.

Community : This is the largest portion of our forums and for good reason. No matter what you want to post, you can find the right section that would be suitable for it here. Most of our members have a blog of their Runescape goals in the Acheivments section. GFX is for anything graphic related.

The Door : This is where we say "Hello," and "Goodbye" to all of our members. The Introductions section is for our newer members to post a little intro about themself for the clan to let everyone to get to know them better. The Vacation section is for those that are going to be inactive for a time and won't be active, post here if you won't be in Runescape for a while, but will return. The Leaving section is for those who will be leaving AL.

Rules and Regulations

1.) Do not double post. This causes people to get their post count up, and is not tolerated. If you have accidently double posted, ask a moderator through PM or through the clan chat in Runescape to have it edited.

2.) Do not post on older topics that are older then 10 days old. This will cause older topics that are no longer important to be bumped up in front of more recent topics that will still be needed for everyone to read. If you see an older topic that you would like to bring back to activity, please PM a moderator to open it, but be sure to say your reasoning to bring it back. If your reason is not strong enough to open a 'dead' topic, then it will not be opened.

4.) Absolutely no flaming. No one wants to post something they have though may of been important and immeditely have someone say it was wrong or stupid. No one appreciates a flamer! If you spot a flamer, immedietly infrom a moderator! They will deal with the flamer.

3.) No bad (Racial slurs, Pornography, ect.) images to be made as a post, avatar, or signature. These will be removed immediately if you do not remove them youself once asked by a Forum Moderator.

Punishment

Based off a member's offences towards the clan, certain punishments will be given. Also, certain punishments will be given for severe offences. But, our system is the following:

First Offence - You will receive a warning.

Second Offence - You will receive a blackmark.

Third Offence - You will receive a second blackmark and will be suspended on the forums for 24 hours.

Fourth Offence - You will receive a third blackmark, suspended from forums for 2 days, and will be kicked from clan chat for 24 hours.

Fifth Offence - You will be removed from Ancient Legion due to rulebreaking and failing to comply to our easy-to-follow rules.

Good rules, I think this means that we need more mods to monitor the forums?

I suggest we use the warn system for account on this website, if you get down to
-5, you are kicked out like you said. You can also gain ratings by being a good member and attending events regularly. This way if you accidentally break a rule, you won't go down to negative. I think we should use it.

starwolf_ftw - April 24, 2009 03:38 AM (GMT)
unfortumetly the rating system runs from zero to a negative number. no positive side of the spectrum. I will post ways of removing your black marks though.

I pretty sure you can add to make it positive, or take away to make it negative.

Oh right, in the acp, ask arthur to change it so it runs from -5 to +5
that way it will work.

starwolf_ftw - April 24, 2009 03:57 AM (GMT)
I think the method of our strike system is fine at 0 to -5. No need to change that.

Basically it is just spam.

> As for the positive warning system, I think it's a good way to encourage other members to look for posts that break rules and report them. Members that are vigilant on the forums receive good marks.

> As for one word posts, (including meaningless "+/- 1") are considered spam if not accompained by some useful text.

> As for this forum rules, Ima put it on the Forum Guidelines system, so every new member gets redirected there. Just wait a second while I set it up.

About this you have stated... We don't need nonmoderators patrolling the forums looking for problems, that's the moderators job. If we give reinforcement towards this action, we're just going to be full of ppl looking for other mistakes. This could really be a negative bonus for AL.

K Arthur90 - April 24, 2009 09:04 PM (GMT)
> Here are the Forum Rules.

> And star, ppl looking for other's mistakes is what helps keeping the forum clean. They don't post on the same thread stating: "Hey! You broke the rules!!!! You're going down!!!!"... They just use the report button. By reporting, only mods know what posts have been reported by whom and why. But that's up to the Council to evaluate.

>PS.: No need to have the Forum Rules on the Joining forum. Every new member gets the InvisionFree Terms of Use and our Forum Guidelines when they register.

starwolf_ftw - April 24, 2009 09:18 PM (GMT)
Still, we need it there just in case some people stil need to read it in case they forgot something.

The positive reinforcement was never used because it never was needed. Let's not try to fix a sink that ain't broken and leave the reinforcment issue alone.

If you want this so much, talk to the leaders, but I don't like it. If we do adopt it, we'll go from ppl massively posting like no other to ppl pointing out everyone's mistakes. In other words were getting rid of one problem to just receive another problem.

K Arthur90 - April 24, 2009 09:37 PM (GMT)
> The reports aren't posted directly on the forums, but reported. These reports are readable exlcusively by universal mods, so other members wouldn't see the reports. It's pretty much the way RS/Report Abuse PMod system works. But it is still up to the leaders to decide. I'm just listing the benefits. :P

another step in the right direction :)
