i went into the city yesterday and joined in on the protest. i usually dont give a damn about politics, but i realized how screwed im going to be down the road, so i walked around and talked with people.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FHEXHSJLM0
theres the great uncle ted talking about how he feels about all this. some people think he is crazy on his views, but most people know he is blunt, and correct.
so, did anyone else participate yesterday? even if you didnt, have any thoughts about this?
btw im republican and proud of it, and i dont feel the need to bash other political views, so please dont bash mine.
Frankly, I'm a Democrat and support Obama, but I do disagree with the habits in general (hopefully not Obama's too) to tax and spend. The most bothersome part is that we, the younger generation, will be paying the price, not those who are spending the money now. Reducing the deficit by starting with a balanced budget is an absolute must and should be a top administration priority.
That being said, I don't think the modern-day tea parties will have any effect or have a real purpose other than to agitate for a principle. When the first tea parties occured, the demonstrators were complaining about taxation without representation. Now, it's just complaining about taxation -- in short, it's not a principle anymore but the fact they don't like paying up. I don't like how high taxes are, but frankly, we need taxation in order to get back everything we so enjoy. :)
I'm an Aussie, but a tea party sounds nice. :o
