Title: whats the purpose of the application?

damon - April 2, 2009 04:39 AM (GMT)
i mean really.. every and any1 who applies gets accepted... i dont know why we even have an application process. Might as well make every1 who comes to the forums a full member. I mean whats the point of reqs if any1 is getting in anyways? Idc if they are alleged *junior members* or whatever u want to call them to let them in. It should be strictly enforced 75+ to start.. The whole reason we got into a big clan argument was to solve the issue of whether to raise cb req to join, or make a warring squad/ junior squad. All this is being thrown out... no offense to kerk and biiz but.. biiz was basically in the clan, attending events, even wars, before the level of 75, and kerk's brother is allowed in at a level of 40s. I dont mean to be a jerk here, but we have requirements for a reason. Family is maybe a legit exception (plus he is a valued member) so that could slide, but i just saw some1 today join at 69 cb.. Plus this in general is not even all about levels.. Like i said before, every and any1 gets in.. people like athens.. total assholes, yet they are able to come in and nearly wreck us without even bieng active... f trial members, their needs to b trial periods. 2 weeks trials for those above 75 and if u r under 75 come back when you get better. Im personally tired of these members i see for the first time disrespecting me and treating me like sht when they dont know me. its annoying and it causes problems.

plus if ur friend wants to join but doesnt meet reqs, sorry to say, but too bad.. there is no friends benefits, just because ur in, means ur friends can bypass rules. If that were the case i can basically get into a 110+ clan while being like 30 just because my friends in it? bull [BEEP].. follow the rules

Completely agreed, Damon. The CC is nowadays full or "nobodies" (no offense) who all of a sudden think they can do whatever they want, stay on the cc one day and never show up again.

I'd suggest a reinforcement on the application porcess and a huge inactive members clean-up.

I agree Damon, and I have been talking to Lamb and Golden about fixing this problem a few days ago when Kerk's sister, Unicornbest, wanted to join. We are going to start enforcing a difference between "Trial member" and "Full member" status.

Trail members will be for our newcomers that come to AL wanting to join, they will need to fullfill our requirements first though including the folowing :

-Attend 2 events
-Attend 2 wars
-Runescape Activness
-75 combat

We still plan on having people sign up for AL that are lower then our combat requirement, but they will remain to be "Trial Members" until they meet the requirement.

This basically means we are removing here on the forums that when you get 30 posts you automatically become a "Full member." We will be including a second application form for those that finally meet all our requirements to fully join AL. Those that show dedication long enough, should only take a week or so to meet our requirements, will be the only ones that would like to continue being a part of Ancient Legion.

These will be implemented in about a week, so we got this covered. Thanks for bringing this up Damon, good to see that others are noticing what we can do to improve AL.

I said this ages ago. Beating your head against a wall mate.

The council is working on this matter right now, but frankly, I don't see why everyone is demanding for everything to be more closed off, exclusive, etc. For almost a year now, we've prided ourselves on being an open clan whose community has been superior to other clans out there. If someone is out of line in the CC, for example, they should be kicked, but there's no good reason NOT to be nice to them just because they haven't joined. Unless it costs money to be nice, there's no reason not to be nice to those "nobodies" (no offense) who all of a sudden think they can do whatever they want, stay on the cc one day and never show up again."

As for Damon's post itself, we accept those who follow the rules and post their app correctly. The point of an app is to introduce the members to the clan and have them feel they are a part of something. I argue that posting an app is much more likely to have an impact on a members' activity than whatever else we may do. It's not like we have someone post an app just for the hell of it.

But, I see there are some flaws, and there have been three council topics posted regarding that. We'll get to work and get something implemented as soon as we can. ;)

i agree with damon.

if u have a friend that doesnt have the reqs just be a good friend and say the req is 75+ cb and that once he gets it he will be accepted into the clan.

there is a little word in the world and it is NO. It is allowed to be said, dont be scared.

I just posted about the same thing lol, here's my topic link
http://z9.invisionfree.com/Ancient_Legion/...3526&st=0&#last

here is what I wrote

QUOTE (Kerkennah Apr 2 2009 @ 10:29 AM)

Well I know that right now, when someone joins, they are appointed trail member, assuming they are 75+ Combat. After they post 20 or 30 times, and attend 2 events, then they become a full member. I am noticing that on the site, even if they just post like say, 30 or 40 times, their rank changes to member. I think it should be made so that their rank is changed manually, so we can include a forum on the website called Attendance. Here after every event, we can post what happened and who are the people that came. It would make this system much better. So after noticing that the person attended two events and posted enough, their rank can be changed. I think the council can do all of that.

Another suggestion I have is future applicants. I am seeing a few people joining who don't meet the requirements. I believe we should make a FA rank so that after when they reach 75 combat, they can turn into a trial member, or a full member.
The FA's should be allowed to join all clan events except wars.

Thanks for your time,
Kerkennah

I never said I wasn't nice to them, Golden. I try to be nice to everyone on the CC, you can ask anyone that periodically goes there. But when all you do is be nice and you get insulted for that, what's the point?

yes the flaw is that you dont know how 2 faced these people are.. athen makes a nice app, sounds smart when he wants to get me demoted, but in reality, thats not how he is..

damon - April 3, 2009 12:11 AM (GMT)
what we need to do is distinguish trial members from future apps... not just make future apps trial members for the duration.. set a FA level of like 70.
