Title: trial peroid

40 def robin - March 3, 2009 04:53 AM (GMT)
Well i was thinking with all these new members joining then just never showing up again we should install a trail peroid with new members. Make it at least 2 weeks, 1 month would be better tho. Im sure alot of other members in this clan would agree with my idea.

aren't they all on trial?

40 def robin - March 3, 2009 06:26 AM (GMT)
well yes and no. It just a trial member till you have 30 posts i belive. But they are added to our runehead right away normally .

Also with the type of trial im thinking of is that they would have a review after the trial peroid, see if they are getting along with the members of the clan and are active.

dflame58 - March 3, 2009 06:44 AM (GMT)
when i joined i was required to make either 10 or 20 posts on the forum and then attend 2 events before i could be a member

starwolf_ftw - March 3, 2009 08:28 AM (GMT)
I feel that this is needed, but maybe not for such a long trial period. I think that 7 days is all that is needed for a new member needs to be commited to the clan. If we implement the two weeks to a month plan, our recruitment rate will be in the dumps because people don't won't to still be considered a trial member (aka clan noobs) for that long period of time.

Chuffa - March 3, 2009 11:34 AM (GMT)
When it was set up, trial members should have to make 30 posts within two weeks or get kicked. I did a sweep before i had computer trouble, i'll do another later to kick inactives.

Golden arm42 - March 3, 2009 01:20 PM (GMT)
Just did a sweep a few days ago...pruned 67 people. :P I'll check it out again.

:jester: thank god you finally cleaned it out lol it was getting pertty full of noobs

Redeyes2496 - March 3, 2009 03:24 PM (GMT)
I think BOTH systems are needed. We should have them do the 20 posts + 2 events, but we should also review them after their trial period. Perhaps we should keep all of the trial periods to a certain amount of time instead of just changing them to Full Member once they have reached the amount of posts + events they need. I like the review idea though, we definitely need to start taking the best of the best that apply, and not just the one's that are going to quit in a few days....

dflame58 - March 3, 2009 05:33 PM (GMT)
i thikn that trial should last at least 2 weeks. I've played other games and its the same. Once they join we shouldn't be treating them as trial members while on trial. They shouldnt feel that they are clan noobs or we are doing the wrong thing.

Agreed. We should all treat everyone the same Anyway, but especially be more courteous to them so they feel at home. And yes, I think two weeks is a good enough time to be able to review them, and for them to reach 20+ posts and attend 2 events.

K Arthur90 - March 3, 2009 06:32 PM (GMT)
Agreed. New members should have two weeks to achieve the full member status.
PS.: I thought that that was the current way we had to sort out the trial from the full members.

Maybe we could have a comitte who were solely responsible for the reviewing of applications and accepting members... Like after two weeks they could vote on whether or not that person is accepted... Likea clan recruiter group or something ;)

Also, getting kicked for not posting 20 in two weeks and not going to 2 events could be kinda harsh... Maybe like they just have to wait a little longer, assuming htey have been active and stuff just can't post or anyhting....

Well thats just my opinion, do what you want with it ;)

P.S.- First post as a full member! :holiday:

But having a comitee means more ranks, which means more organization, which means more work for the Leaders :(
However, the Council could be assigned to to that ^_^

starwolf_ftw - March 9, 2009 04:03 AM (GMT)
Council are already in charge of something similar to that.

101laxkid2 - March 10, 2009 03:05 AM (GMT)
Oh, I didn't realize...

Well, it might not have to be too much work... you could ahve it be like 2 or 3 people... ah never mind. I think the trial period is fine, just what needs to ahppen is that people who just quit have to end up getting kicked rather than just like sitting there.

Lamb and Golden accept / decline applicants. Council do it when they are away.

I think if we added a new clan rank, there would be more ranked members then normal members sort of thing going on. That happend here before and wasn't good.

If they haven't posted within two weeks, they obviously can't be bothered. If they have a valid reason, their trial will be extended.

As for kicking inactives, me and Golden do that on a regular basis, see i do work sometimes

101laxkid2 - March 11, 2009 02:42 AM (GMT)
Well in that case I believe we no longer have a problem ;)

thegame910 - March 30, 2009 09:16 PM (GMT)
i think this is a good idea personally, it will help keep only the dedicated members, and make sure that no lazy clan members join, but at the same time it would waste a lot more of the admin's time sorting through all these people and seeing if their trial was over. i'd say leave it how it is for now until a better strategy is thought of
