Description: The Fire Vine was an offshoot of the Fire Algae that had sprung up near the geysers. This plant was the first of its kind to truly become a vine, as the plant, notable for the single, feathery appendage that dangled in the warm currents, helping pull more food from its surroundings, developed a thin, web-like shape. Of course, this lowered its strength, as if a Cannonshot or Grapeshot came ripping through, and it went and smashed into the the Fire Vine feather, it would tear the unfortunate plant from the tunnel floor and send it whistling right out into the air along with it. Fortunately for the Cannonshot/Grapeshot, those suicidal rock things, this would also help slow it down somewhat, as they were known to clump together, forming miniature colonies. Ripping through several of the feathers would slow its passage just enough that it shouldn't go reaching escape velocity any time soon.
Of course, those tunnels clear of the Fire Vine, were still rather good for that...

Description: The Ice Flower, contrary to its name, was actually a type of algae that arose from the icy denizens of the deep tunnels. It received its name because of the shape that each individual 'bud' took, resembling a small, many petaled flower. Indeed, when it was clumped together, it was not uncommon for it to look as though a bouquet of flowers had stuck to the side of an ice wall, or was floating through the currents. What kept them together, though, despite the current's overwhelming power and drag on the poor 'flowers' when they were stuck to a wall, was this:
A single tentacle protruded from the base of the 'flower' almost as though it were a stem. This 'stem' was actually a movable tentacle, that it used to entwine itself to its brethren, strengthening its hold. Able to withstand much more pressure on it, thanks to the powerful interlocking, it was not uncommon to see them stretching themselves, entire colonies of Ice Flowers beginning to choke off the tunnels. At least, until a wayward Ricochet smashed through it again...

Description: The Ricochet Sedimentor was an offshoot of the Buzzsaw Sedimentor that took the term 'Ricochet' to an entirely new level. While the previous Buzzsaw Sedimentor was undoubtedly dangerous, it was at least predictable in its routes, as it would always follow where the current took it, and couldn't move otherwise. Indeed, it was oftentimes rather intriguing to see the way that it would drift, along with a Cannon Shot towards a geyser, able to survive a bit longer thanks to its own sediment shell. Of course, it wasn't quite heat resistant, and it would scorch before it was fired out like the cannonball from hell, but thanks to the inevitability of the current, it would always end up there.
That changed with the Ricochet. The Ricochet developed a deflated, rubbery pad that rested just beneath the 'treads' of its buzzsaw ridge. This way, it didn't interfere when it sliced into or stuck into something, and would allow it the full use of its deadly weapon. However, when it stuck in areas that weren't exactly prime filtering material, the Buzzsaw was in trouble. It couldn't exactly rip itself out of the wall, or unstick the sediment from itself, so often times it would just starve to death quietly in the forgotten tunnels. The Ricochet, however, had a bladder tucked inside of itself, which a small channel in the creature's sediment layer could fill. Once filled, the rubbery pad would push against the wall that it was stuck to, causing it to detach from its icy prison to go bouncing away. Of course, it couldn't DEFLATE it, as it didn't have an output channel... So the Ricochet was born.
The rubbery pad, now bloated with water, acted as a bouncy pad, whereupon if the Buzzsaw struck anything else, it would simply bounce off, and go spinning crazily through the tunnels. This was big trouble for anything living on the walls, as its chaotic spin often sent it careening into other denizens of the tunnels, bringing them to their deaths upon the whirling blades.

Description: One thing that occurs to many that learn of the original Ice Hydra, or at least those that have any knowledge of mythology whatsoever, is that a Hydra is not a being with a single head. Though it may start out as a creature with a single head, or a single tentacle in the case of the Hydra that began its life here in this frozen wasteland, it begins to develop more and more heads as time passes, until it is sometimes thirty or forty-headed. Such is the case with the Ice Hydra Quadra, as not just one, not two, but three more feeding tentacles appeared, ringing around the basic mouth that would draw unfortunate creatures to their doom.
Another thing that many would notice about the Hydra myth, is that if you cut off one of their heads, then two more would arise to take its place, earning it a reputation for ferocity and deadliness. Unfortunately for this hydra, it couldn't quite match up to that kind of mythical proportions, and settled for a starfish-like quality, in that it could replenish any of the tentacles that were cut off given enough time and energy. This was especially useful with the Buzzsaw Sedimentors zipping about, as if a Hydra had lost its tentacle previously, it would starve without a way to gain its food.
Yet another ingenious little device that appeared in these rapidly evolving Hydras, was a small pouch that lay just behind the basic mouth. Now, rather than simply trapping a creature and waiting for it to decompose itself, the tentacles would push the creature further into itself, where it would enter a pouch that was filled with digestive enzymes, where it would break down and feed the Hydra, which required more energy to move its 4 arms. Unfortunately, it couldn't yet CLOSE its mouth, so often times it would end up losing a bit of its enzymes over time, flooding the surrounding waters with digestive fluids, should the current take a wrong turn. Nasty for both the Hydra and those around it.

| To the bafflement of scientists everywhere, life survived long enough to evolve on Grannos. Generations of spectators from all over the universe kept their deep-sighted satelites tuned to the emerging life in the tunnels. While still far from any sort of intelligent life, there was undeniable progress made towards better species survival. The ice hydra was hailed as the major innovation of the era, developing the first basic appendage used as a tool for assisting survival. But quite often the 'innovation of the era' was killed by its inability to move when a buzzsaw sedimentor sliced through its flesh. Many types of algae emerged, growing in every direction. The most curious creature to evolve was called the cannon shot, a decendant of the sediementor that lived most of its life in a nymph-like state where it breeded, then shortly after breeding, encased itself in stone and began drifting towards a geyser. The large, 100+ gram rock that formed was then fired out into space, though 99% of the time it fell back to the icy surface. That 1% of the time was when a Gorogn satelite's capture lens was broken and the creature lodged in the machinery.

Description: Throughout time, instead of clinging to the tunnel walls like pale yellow algae, chemioalgae began to bud and get whisked about in the subterranean currents. They evolved long extensions of their tissue, similar to hair but serving only to maximize surface area, for more efficient chemiosynthesis. These little puffballs circulate through the tunnels on warmer water, which rises and repeats itself in little loops. Less fortunate chemiopuffs may stumble on another current which drives them into the colder, less hospital regions of the tunnels where they soon meet a quick, icy death.

Description: The Ice Hydra was an offshoot of the Anchor Worm, that developed a more aggressive way of eating. The Ice Hydra developed a long, thin tendril that would emerge once it anchored itself in the ice walls, flitting to and fro in the current. When something would brush against this tentacle, it would entwine around its prey, and bring it to a basic mouth located in the top of the cylindrical body, to become food for the Hydra.

Description: On Grannos, as everywhere, the flow of water was god. The tidal force of the gas giant, the water ejected by the geysers, the fresh melt, and gravity: these where the things that dictated life and death. It was the currents that allowed filter feeding to be a viable method of existence in the first place, but the anchor worm had ignorantly fought and resisted the currents since it's genesis. The Repeller Worm was different, It knew that the tides of the underground rivers took time to undo each other, and that the microscopic organisms upon which it fed could get trapped in dense pockets in some places and quickly swept away in others. For a simple stationary creature, these feasts and famines canceled each other out in all but the most extreme cases, but for a creature with the ability to feel the currents of the waters of Grannos and use that data to develop a simple sense of whether or not the current conditions are good for filter feeding, and the capability to actually abandon it's anchor for a short time and ride the currents, then flail around for a bit and re-anchor it's self, this fact of life could be exploited.

Description: The Buzzsaw Sedimentor was an offshoot of its preceding Sedimentor that developed a unique ability to keep its sediment shell from breaking down if it got caught in the currents: It developed a sort of paste that it exuded from its soft insides, that bound and hardened the sediment around it, keeping it attached to them even when the currents got strong enough to try and rip the sediment away from them. This also allowed them to develop a kind of ridge that spiraled and sliced along its sediment covering, that was sharpened to allow it to either stick into one of the ice walls if it hit it hard enough, to become a stationary filtration feeder, or to cut through the tentacles of the developing Ice Hydra, if it tried to ensnare it.

Description: A common source of death for most organisms on Grannos was getting sucked into the hot waters of the geysers and getting shot into space. While no creature could muster up the heat resistance to survive getting it's tissues heated to 212+ degrees Fahrenheit, it is fairly well known that rocks can. Because the sediment shell of the cannonshot would almost always shatter upon hitting the ground, the creature could enter and leave a geyser with only mild concussive damage. In order for the rock shell to be completely effective inside the geyser, it completely surrounds the cannonshot once fully grown, because of this, the cannonshot can only feed for a short while after re-entry. Thus, the cannonshot is actually dependent upon getting shot out of a geyser in order to feed. This suicidal nature has made it crucial to breed as often as possible.
