Inasuni was not quite ready yet; there was no Shodan running the nation, and though Ahanko fancied becoming a leader for her own group of foxes and wolves and other canines, she knew her current job and duties well: being a guide. Nothing would please her more than mapping out landforms and geographic changes in Inasuni. The place was remarkable, she had seen it herself: beautiful flatflands with some watery plains, wetlands, and the edges of marshes. The different landscape would make being a guide highly enjoyable, and she already could not wait for its opening.
So, for the time being, instead of traveling to Inasuni, she took a small detour towards the ocean. The change lasted around three moons, and though the trekking was lengthy and exhausting, the end result was worth it. Beautiful, foamy seas laid in a wide expanse in front of Ahanko, stretching for miles. She almost thought the waters were endless in their distance.
Salty waves churned and twisted above the surface, spilling out massive amounts of bubbles across the shore. Tides dared to crawl from their place in the sea to the sandy dunes above, only to instantly subside back to their homes, tired from their reckless climb. And overhead, watching the ocean while the sun took her rest under the horizon, was the faintly black sky. Dawn must be erupting soon, Ahanko noticed, taking in account the strange, lighter glow to the almost brown-looking night sky, and the poking of sunlight from under the mountains to the west.
She sighed breathlessly, taking in as much of the beach's fine, thick air, before turning away from the area off the shore. She had to hurry to find some shelter, perhaps a nice burrow under the roots of a tree, since she didn't have a prepared shelter like in Arahii, which she heard had many members already.
