Brand New Hellsing OAV Series

A new Hellsing OAV series is being produced in cooperation with Geneon Entertainment. The "Hellsing Ultimate OVA Series" is "based on original comic." The series will be much more faithful to the original manga than the TV series. The episodes will be 35 minutes each but there is no information about the number of episodes.

Full Metal Alchemist movie is going to premiere in Japan on July 23rd, 2005.

(3 days before my B-Day! biggrin.gif )

Plot summary:

Munich, Germany, 1923. Two years have passed since Edward Elric was dragged from his own world to ours, leaving behind his country, his friends and his younger brother, Alphonse. Stripped of his alchemical powers, he has been all this time researching rocketry together with Alphonse Heiderich, a young man with a lot of resemblances to his own brother, hoping to one day find a way back home. His efforts so far had proven fruitless, but when he hears that the Thule Society, an occultistic group strongly tied to the Nazi Party, discovered what could be a clue to the location of the legendary, mystical place called "Shambala", Edward's hopes get renewed. Meanwhile, in his own world, Alphonse Elric ventures deeper into the mysteries of alchemy in search for a way to reunite with his older brother.

Can't wait!!!

I'm looking for a new anime that'd be similar to Outlaw Star and The Last Exile. Sci fi based. Anyone know of any?

Anyone of you Highlander fans? The show about the Scottish Immortal?

Well, try this on for size:

Highlander: Vengence (movie)

Colin MacLeod, the immortal Scottish Highlander, travels with the wise-cracking ghost Amergan in search of the immortal despot Marcus Octavius, who killed Colin's lover on the Celtic plains centuries earlier. The once great city of New York is now submerged under water, with only one dominant fortress towering over the sea, the fortress of Marcus Octavius. MacLeod is torn between saving the survivors of New York and hunting down his nemesis.

Sometime Spring 2006

And yes...this is in the anime section...so this movie will be an 80 min animated movie in Japanese about everyone's favorite Immortal.

Strisas is a triple posting fiend! Bah!

New Hellsing series? Sweet! The manga was much different than the current 13 episode series. In the manga Integral had little to no control over Alucard's actions, and Alucard was much, much scarier. They humanized him too much in the anime series. I'm looking forward to the new one.

On a sidenote, my friend Kensuke in Japan just told me that he is finally able to reserve tickets for Final Fantasy: Advent Children. Apparently the new (and final?) release date is sometime in October. I'd allow at least 3-6 months for the DVD to be released in Japan after than and then another 2-4 weeks before a torrented fansub is available. So yeah, by summer 2006 we may actually get to watch this highly anticipated baby!

Another good series that's out and Strisas hasn't mentioned is Trinity Blood. Fansubs are available through bittorrent. It's made by the same people who did Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust if I remember correctly, although the series isn't nearly as artsy as that movie. I'm not sure if I like this series yet or not, but it definitely has enough potential for me to stick with it until I either tire of it or fall in love.

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days

Anime fans wondering how life might be different for the cast of Neon Genesis Evangelion will finally get an answer starting this August when Newtype USA begins its serialization of the exhilarating new manga Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days!

Based on a popular PC and PlayStation 2 game released only in Japan, Angelic Days takes the angst-ridden Eva pilots and sets them in a lighter, brighter world, where choosing the right girlfriend is more important than saving Earth from unimaginable threats. With comedy, action and romance (plus a dollop of fan service), Angelic Days is sure to please hardcore Evangelion fans as well as casual readers simply looking for a lighthearted manga romp.

In this alternate retelling of Neon Genesis Evangelion everything is different. Shinji and Asuka have grown up together as childhood friends, Rei is the new kid at school, Misato is their teacher, NERV is just beginning to assemble teenagers for their experiments, and the second impact never happened. The story proceeds as a romance rather than an action series, with love triangles a-plenty.

After the serialization is finished, the complete story will be released as graphic novels from ADV Manga. The final release date hasn’t been set, but expect the first volume sometime in 2006.

ARRRGGGHHH!!!! NOOOO!!! What are they doing to this series??? I know it's an "alternative retelling", but please...kill me now!

MAI-Otome

Originally going to be called Mai HiME: Second Stage, The sequel season to this popular anime will be starting to air sometime late this year or early next year. Produced by Sunrise once again, this second installment, Mai MAiD (It's translation), will be radically different than the first season. Staring the girl briefly seen on the last episode (not omake) @ 16:33 timing, this series will be a take-off, and in probably a different format.

Let me tell ya all something...This anime is great, the soundtrack's positively amazing, and plot is hardcore nonstop! Now, this anime's final episode was actually ranked as one of the top 10 most anticipated (trying to find it, but i did read it in either ANN or NewType), and let me tell you: the series was excellent!!! HiME stood for something in the previous one, so I wonder what MAiD is going to stand for. Although being licensed (that never stopped anybody), you can still find it from Static-Subs or from me (ask and you shall recieve...possibly:P)

Static-Subs

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX

Yes that's right folks...A spinoff of Yu-Gi-Oh itself!

4Kids Entertainment has announced that Yu-Gi-Oh! GX will premiere on Cartoon Network in October. With a "new, brighter look" 4Kids is hoping that Yu-Gi-Oh! GX will be a hit with a younger audience, but is also hoping that GX, which takes place 100 years after Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, will attract fans of the "original" series.

This is interesting because the official plot summary is 10 years afterwards, not 100...we'll see.

Ten years after the Ceremonial Battle, a teenage boy named Yuuki (sound familiar?) Judai heads off in order to join the Duelist Yousei School located on a remote island off the coast of Japan. There he meets his fellow students and gains a few friends, along with a few enemies. Judai is put into the lowest rank of Osiris Red, but he continues to test his skills against the students and faculty to prove his worth as a Yousei Duelist and earn the respect of everyone around him.

And so another neverend thing goes spiraling out of control. Coulda told ya that 4 years ago!
