21c in general can be pretty free-form, allowing you to express your nation however you want. Except in the area of military purchases. I'm pretty strict here: if you buy something for your military, you must keep track of it. This is not only so that I (I'm the mod who validates your purchases) can make sure you can afford what you buy. When you're in the middle of a hot war, you don't want your enemies to be able to say "wait, you couldn't have bought those F-35s!". So, here's my guidelines on how to do this: #1 - Military budgets and procurements. Take a look online and find a recent military budget for your nation. The CIA World Factbook is good for this, as it gives the budget as a percentage of your GDP. Your budget should be in US dollars, and you should base it on your nominal (not PPP) GDP. Your procurement budget is the portion of it used for buying new things. It's typically 20% of your military budget. It can be more during wartimes and modernization - ask me or one of the other military mods about this if you're thinking of raising your procurement budget. #2 - For purposes of this game, procurement money is used for buying new weapons. This includes new ships and planes and tanks and bazookas. It also includes missiles and bombs and support contracts for fighter jets and the like. It doesn't include uniforms and forks, or even ammunition for small arms. To make it easier, most folks include munitions, training and support when they buy new weapons (i.e.: "I want to buy 10 F-35s, including munitions, training and support contracts"). #3 - Post a single post in this thread. Post a new budget every year, and include your purchase history there. Here's an example of what I'd like to see: 2015Military budget: $11.665 billion Procurement: $2.333 billion Spent: $2,331 million Remaining: $2 million 4 Moudge class frigate - $600 million 10 Mohajer-IV UAV - $125 million 200 Zulfiqer MBT - $740 million 300 Boragh APC - $210 million 54 Tosan light tanks - $108 million 140 Raad-2 self-propelled howitzer - $308 million 2 battalions Gareh SAM - $240 million Include both foreign and domestic purchases. Add to this post for every year. This lets you see at a glance the entire history of your military budgets and purchases in the game. Please don't post new posts in the budget thread for every year's budget. This just clutters up the thread, and bloats it out, making it more time consuming to look through. Since we don't have a "search this thread" function, it actually makes a pretty big difference. That's it, and have a nice time purchasing instruments of death and destruction!
