 NAe São Paulo put on high alert The Brazilian carrier São Paulo has been placed on high alert as the emergency UNASUR meeting continues to be in session in Brasilia.  Fleet sets sail for Ecuadorian coast The aircraft carrier São Paulo, corvettes Barroso and Frontin, and the tanker Almirante Gastão Motta have left Rio de Janeiro for their rendezvous in Chile with other ships that will be helping to enforce the arms embargo against the military junta currently established in Ecuador. The São Paulo will be mainly be used for helicopter operations during its tour on duty, but two flights of A-4s will be onboard to maintain an active deterrence to all threats that would hinder the fleet from fulfilling its tasks.
