I thought Rajoy was Seņor Austerity, anyway? Not that Hollande is complaining, of course.

His more recent quotes are all about "Spain having done its part", I think he's about done with austerity. Those angry protests probably had some influence there.

I think it is more that the reason Spain needs German money is the application of flawed Keynesian economics rather than following its principles strictly. But in all seriousness if the eurozone tries to force cash out of Merkel there is a very real chance she will just refuse out of hand or risk a vote of no confidence.

Perhaps, but it's a better debate to have IC than OOC!

Well from what I have read the German public is at breaking point in terms of tolerance for bail outs....so I will be making this offer and if everyone disagrees (As They Will) you will have to find bail out money elsewhere.

Anyhoo all the active Eurozone has turned up so I will prepare an opening post and rename the thread.

You mean like Germany, which has had a higher average deficit in the last 15 years than Spain? tongue.gif

France would be the most screwed by this - they already run into trouble with austerity, imagine how bad it would be politically if they let Germans permanently have a say over their entire budget. Spain's population isn't as proud as the French. tongue.gif

This whole measure will actually help with austerirty as the ability to pay off up to 50% of GDP of bad debt will cut over all interest repayments thus effectively being cuts without needing to cut anything. Either way as Spain started the name calling I will now have to list all of the flawed economics in its precious southern Europe which lead to the current situation starting with Greece cooking its books for the last 15 to twenty years.

Well, as Spain is throwing a fit that the suggestion is intrinsic to future financial prudence I will have to just go with plan b. Realism. Otherwise known as sit around and see what happens which is the currently favoured policy by the German people.

And force the break up of the Euro Zone...which will be very damaging to the German economy.

Anyway, Spain..

Its better than allowing the collapse of the eurozone due to sweeping and risky reforms without any security or oversight meaning that a crash could happen at any point month to month. I would rather have a crash whose approach is easily trackable and thus more easy to plan for.

Ah, my fault, sorry. I thought you might have sent an observer or something of the sort.

I do wonder why I ever bother as Germany....I have always proposed reasonable solutions, in this case one proposed by France and Belgium originally IRL and people just refuse out of hand.

Oh well, time to watch Europe spiral its way into oblivion.

^ Well, you have to put a sales pitch on.
I haven't read the thread since I'm not EuroZone.
But I'd imagine there is this pre-determined image or position on Germany in peoples minds. If so you might have to over come that.

Recent article that may be of interest.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-18951402

I'm planning on holding the referendum shortly, although if other RPs of mine go to plan the constitutional amendment that the referendum will be on will be much improved compared to the one that they've agreed on in real life.

Anyway, I'll go back to watching Spain and Germany arguing with one another.
