The Royal Brunei Land Forces (Malay: Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei, abbreviated TDDB) is the land component of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. The RBLF has responsibility for maintaining the territorial defence of Brunei, both from attack from outsiders and by assisting the Royal Brunei Police in maintaining law and order.

It is mainly based at the Rimba Air Base within the Brunei International Airport. The role of the Royal Brunei Air Force is to defend the national airspace and to provide air surveillance of the land and maritime borders

The Royal Brunei Navy (Malay: Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei, abbreviated TLDB) is the naval defence force of Brunei Darussalam. It is a small but relatively well-equipped force whose main responsibility is to conduct search and rescue missions and to deter and defend the Brunei waters against attack mounted by sea-borne forces.

Compulsory Military Service Planned for RBAF

Within the next few years, The RBLF as well as the Royal Brunei Air Force and Navy plan to enact compulsory military service for male citizens aged 18 - 49 and fit for military service. This is to counter the fact that Brunei's population is not only small but poorly prepared for any sort of large-scale violence either internally or from abroad. The Royal Brunei Land Forces will also use this large amount of manpower to direct its efforts to providing assistance to civilian projects such as creating and renovating the nation's infrastructure. In addition, the combined forces of the royal military expect to keep a professional force of around 11,000 men and women while nearly 110,000 men will be fit for military service and may be called up in time of need.
