North Korea launches SLBM: O SNAP! EVERYONE TALK ABOUT IT!

Hundreds of thousands dead from chemical warfare in Syria: Ehhh. We're not so sure.

21c: A painfully accurate simulation of UN Security Council priorities.

I trust Kim Jong-un will start donning an eye patch and having a white cat on his lap at all meetings?

Maybe. Maybe not.

Also, I love the "the UNSC must act or be irrelevant!" rhetoric. Creative.

It's most glaring flaw, that it rests on the assumption that the Security Council isn't already irrelevant, is the one that no member can point out. Funny how that works.

one day a miricle of UN reform will happen

Maybe I'll start a withdrawal chain after no help comes for Syria. All the minor states leave after having been shafted for so long, and the UN truly shows as a worthless shell.

Basically the reason I haven't even bothered to read the thread yet. Schwer launching an SLBM which disintegrates anyways registers some where between 0 and -1 on the "Do I give a fuck?" scale.

UN reform should be coming quite shortly on 21C, guys. I'll bring it up in the next couple days in hopes of having as much of that can-of-shit wrapped up as humanly possible before my term ends in 2016 (even though the reform discussion will be a UNGA matter, initially).

Well, there isn't exactly a whole lot that can be done in response. Write a sternly worded letter and that's about it.

Or you can go the ludicrous route and let tiny little Georgia lead a military strike. Because that totally won't end in nuclear fire, right?

Im guessing with Syria the investigation and obvious use of WMDs have been made public so my change in approach is as a result of that.

It has been definitively proven but, yeah, the cat's out of the bag. That kind of thing would have youtube videos and blogs within about five minutes of happening. And, until you start seeing hospital logs or something equal (like contaminated artillery fragments), there's not a whole lot in the way of proof you can provide.

But, yeah, definitely work off the assumption that lots and lots of people are dead and the world has a very good case for arguing it was chemical weaponry.

I have so much surplus I can practically hand them several mechanized divisions at little or no cost. Hell, I have Soviet-grade (not that shitty Export grade) T-72s that left service not one year ago to be replaced by T-90s and T-99s. tongue.gif

Precisely. I have enough MBTs to use them as applique armor against NATO Georgia. Yeah, try penetrating my T-99s (which you can't do anyway) when they're preceded by 20 T-55s. Per tank. tongue.gif

Let me guess: You'll give each one no crew but a driver (and maybe a gunner), who will be convicted felons that will be accorded full pardons if they survives 10 battles.

I was gonna make it 15 battles, but yes. I also considered setting up some sort of deal with the US to empty their prisons at the same time

Why go US when India is so much closer, has a much better legal environment, and can find far more prisoners to dump? wink.gif
