[Austria (Schwerpunkt)]

Archduke Ferdinand Zvonimir of Austria (b. 1997) is the sanctioned candidate of the Austrian people. While young and lacking much in the way of experience when compared to many of the previous office holders, the 21 year old has served for two years as a nonvoting Minister Without Portfolio in the Habsburg cabinet. Youth and vigor is exactly the type of thing needed by the European Union in this age.

The Prince Imperial's EU-oriented policy is as follows:
- An 'all or nothing' stance on the United Kingdom's current desire for a 'special membership.'
- Turkish membership in the European Union is impossible until such time Turkey peacefully resolves its long-standing disputes with numerous European states.
- The European Union is not responsible for 'bailing out' every failed economy that happens to adopt the Euro. If a situation such as Greece's were to reappear, it would be proper for Greece to drop the Euro currency entirely.
- Similarly, European tax funds should not and cannot be spent on frivolous things such as space-based cooperation with Israel that gives Europe nothing in return for its investment while simultaneously bankrolling foreign technological development.
- The European Union's attempts to stir economic growth in our newest members and soon-to-be members has been underwhelming. If the European Union is to continue to grow and do so without economic shock, it must involve a redoubling of both public and private direct investment in those nations and regions who are still recovering from the stagnation of Soviet-style socialism.
- The European Union's rag-tag attempts at security have been a dismal failure. It is necessary, though perhaps not politically expedient, to increase multilateral security cooperation. This must also include the use of both public and private assets.
- Despite all the billions every year Europe pours into developmental aid, little tangible gain is obtained. In essence, Europe must redefine how it delivers aid. The American corporation called Enterra Solutions has devised 'development in a box.' This plan has proven itself in Kurdistan and abroad. Europe is obliged to adopt and modify it as necessary to ensure that our developmental aid is not simply squandered on more guns or palaces for every petty dictator.
- The rights of all people, without regard to social standing or religious preference, must continue to be respected. The European Union's weak response to Sweden's quasi-Apartheid was shameful to both Brussels and the rest of Europe -- Vienna included.
