The Slovenian Army, which incorporates not only Ground Forces but the Navy and Air Force, is the defensive asset responsible for Slovenia. It is a fully professional force and is primarily tasked with not only territorial responsibilities but the additional responsibilities linked with UN and NATO membership such as peacekeeping and overseas deployments.
The small domestic Slovenian Defence Industry has been involved in the domestic procurement of armoured vehicles, derivatives of the Spanish BMR-600, base and facility construction and small arms maintenance. A substantial support segment providing uniforms, ammunition and other everyday items also exists with the force prioritising domestic products wherever possible.
