I need a thread I can post random updates in. Mostly because it makes me feel like I'm actually doing something productive, y'know?

Anyway, you may noticed that a whole mess of forums got new descriptions. Not all of them, of course, but quite a few did. The UNSC forum even got a fancy HTML link its description. That's cray-zay (worst car commercials ever)!

I digress. This is part of a project I started, like, 20 days ago or something. You know how these things go. You think up an idea, make a commitment to it, realize that it's incredibly minor and promptly forget about it, and then wake up with a head full of random-as-hell quotes you want to force everyone to read. And then what do you do? Well, most people would vomit them all over their Facebook pages, but I'd prefer to post them here. I'm a sadistic bastard, aren't I?

A few forums still need updated descriptions, so if you have anything particularly witty to add, feel free to PM it to me.

Attention, worker ants. Attention, worker ants. Please cease your incessant toil for the duration of this announcement.

With new members joining, and with my hope that we can continue to bring new players to the game, I've decided to institute a sort of mentor system. The purpose of said system is rather obvious: for a veteran player to work with a new player and help bring him up to speed as well as integrate into the 21c framework. (Or, alternatively, to mercilessly crush him beneath an iron wing.)

I'm looking to appoint three mentors (for now). These guys would get a special usergroup that marks them as mentors and a fancy colored name. Isn't that wonderful? You bet your ass is. It's amazing what people will do to get a fifteen character HTML tag coloring their name. You'll also get to be a moderator of the Help Desk. I know, I know, that's reward enough. Right? Last, and most definitely the least, you'll receive some modicum of my approval for your selfless burden.

Moderators need not apply. Besides, only two or three of you do anything anyway. Lazy fucks.

I removed the "Moderated by: Admin" stupidity on every forum. I mean, really, does that have to be there? Of course it doesn't. I can crush a topic with a thought (and four clicks)!

Added Milmods, Econmods to relevant forums. Eventmods were already squared away. Fancy that.

Still looking for mentors.

Forums reordered. Again. Because I have OCD or something.

Ticker update by Sel.

Oh man, it's like an announcement spree. See this thread if you haven't already.

We now have new emoticons. I also flagged three or so as clickable when they weren't, so you'll see a few additions to the roster that were already there but hidden. Or something.

paranoid.gif
huh-.gif
excited.gif
thumb-up.gif
shakefist.gif
music.gif
XD.gif
shrug.gif
scared-%28-nahh-%29.gif

Unfortunately, a certain emoticon was killed in action while these emoticons were uploaded. We shall never again speak of it.

As you may or may not have noticed, a new sub-forum has appeared in the Mess Hall. This new sub-forum will be devoted to our partner sites. This sub-forum has appeared because there are two sites with which 21c is currently discussing the matter with. One is another political simulation game and the other is a start-up scifi nationsim. The process should be finalized by Monday, so be sure to keep an eye on that forum. And, if you happen to have a site of your own that you'd like to partner up with, there's a thread in that sub-forum specifically to tell you how to do that.

Please note that there has been a change in policy regarding the Duty Free Shop. If you have not done so, please read this thread to be updated. We hope that this addresses some complaints by players who are waiting forever and a day for an inactive player.

Any questions or comments, please see the DFS OOC thread or PM a moderator/admin. Thank you.

You will notice some changes to the forums in the next few days, including the removal of some derelict and cobweb-infested forums. Any concerns should be directed to the Admins via PM. Players will also notice that the Economic Help Desk has gotten its own forum, which should be used much like the Military Help Desk for those so inclined.

So, 'cuz it's apparently one of those days where I just have to meddle with stuff, I've been meddling with forum settings. Guest Read permissions were all wonky. They couldn't see half the archives, the Debate Hall, the Mil/Econ Help Desks, the DFS, or the Commonwealth of Nations (I know, they miss so much). Now they can.

Some forums have been reordered. Other Organizations is now alphabetical (ASEAN-CoN-UNASUR). The Archives are now in sequential order (it was 2.0-3.0-2.1...). Partner Sites and Debate Hall are now properly ordered (before they were both flagged for the #1 slot), though this obviously means nothing to y'all because they're in the same order they were. And yet I just spent all this time typing that out and won't delete it. Deal with it.

I also decided to experiment with the Forum Rules function. Doesn't look very helpful.

Those "pips" under your username are now navy blue instead of red. They match the default color scheme better. That's about all I can say on the subject; it's not like there was a lot of rationale behind the decision. My decision making process was basically "whee, colors!" and I selected one at random. Be happy it's not pink you... pinkos.

Speaking of pips, the "ranks" they represent are now sensible. I have no idea who drafted them the first time around but if you're going with a nautical theme you don't start at "Conscript." Do you know what the theme is now? (Truncated) Soviet Army. 'cuz the Red Army didn't use real ranks, Red Alert has always phoned it in on Soviet infantry names, and because I'm tired of looking at naval ranks. I used mostly English names where possible (except Starshina, Efreitor) for simplicity's sake. The list tops out at Commissar at 10,000 posts. Why Commissar? Because someone needs to be around to enforce my 'Not One Step Back!' policy. (Disclaimer: Firearms not provided.)

The sub-forums of Other Organizations now have (new) quotes. SCO has been re-added as a subforum.
